Who has to sign the check in the AD's absence? Losing this guy to another SEC would be a big gut shot to the fan base. At least the fans that are paying attention to this.

tell em,some forget how bad things were before CBJ came here and it could go that way again if he was "fired" which i don't think will happen,unless the wheels totally fall off next season

i do believe he will be here several more years at least

Also, Helfrich Dooleyed what Chip built in about 3 years. Why want him? Kelly was the mastermind.

THIS. If they are bringing in Helfrich to get ahead on being able to name a next HC when Butch leaves then they are wasting time and money. He should not even be considered.

really don't have a feel for that.. too many questions..

what salary will he want? Will new AD be willing to pay it?? Buyout considerations?

If new AD comes in and Butch has an ultimatum on next season then AD is not going to invest dollars (especially large buyouts) in assistants.

Just too many questions right now and too many dynamics to know for certain how it goes.

I think there is less than 10% chance, because of the "unknowns" LWS just listed.

But that's only my opinion.

I can't disagree. At a glance, the only thing UT has going for it right now is a roster that fits Helfrich's style. As DP, stated Helfrich will want to go somewhere and win right away.

this is only my thoughts and opinions.

but what if the boosters are the ones behind butch talking to helfrich. Could it be a long term "plan" by the boosters.
Bring in Helfrich on a guaranteed multi year deal as OC.
Give Butch one more year to do whatever will happen.
Then after next season use Helfrich and Stoops as luring chips for a new HC.
Go hard after Chip Kelly by telling him we already have his OC and the DC is up to him to keep or replace as it would only be a one year buyout of Shoop at that point.

Again, this i just my thoughts and opinions or my "conspiracy theory" lol.

We have Stoops now ? Nice upgrade on DC. Some of this speculating about Kelly is as comical as Gruden.

There were lot of K-town media guys mentioning Mark Helfrich as potential for OC or even Co-OC job. Swain even made it sound like it was a done deal. Many posters here with "insider information" also confirmed it.
From what I am reading on major media outlets Helfrich's name has come up for LSU OC job a lot, as their potential candidate along with Lane, Matt Canada etc. However, no one has been talking about UT being in the market.
Can some of the guys with inside track or sources confirm deny any of this ? I tried to contact few of my friends who typically have useful information but they all came back with no information. I am still hopeful we get some upgrade there.
