I took a year off before I ever came up here. It was the best thing I ever did.

One) I partied my ass off and calm downed a little before I got up here.

Two) Working in construction everyday sucked. It made me realize swinging a hammer is no way to spend your life.

Three) I had some money in my pocket so that made everything a little easier.

Four) That year made me realize what I wanted to do once I got to school. I then went on to change my major :)

Point being, don't rush it. School sucks if you let it get to you.

I'm with volfanbill, take some intro classes and see what you like.

Thanks for the input Justin. I've heard pros and cons to taking time off. One of the largest cons I've heard is once you leave you never go back. But I think that is just completely up to the person. I guess what I'm hoping for is I'll end up working in a field during my year off that will help me see what I want to major in. We will see.

Either that or you'll do something you hate and you know you can eliminate it from your choices :p

Best of luck.

At least you figured out you needed to take some time off after only a semester. I've gone through 4!

It's just been one semester at UT. I've been at my old school back in Kansas City for 3 semesters prior. So we're in the same boat.

Hey at least you know where you'll be getting a job. I don't know whether to look in Kansas City or Nashville or somewhere else for that matter.

I may consider that but right now I'd rather not pay for an apartment. Plus I don't really know that many people here. I don't know what I'll do. Good luck with the job search though .

Sorry I severely hijacked your thread Tiger Den.

Dont sweat it kc , it sounds like two very intellegent people were giving you some very good advice . Dont sweat the school stuff either , you can do anything in life that you choose to do , an education makes things alot easier but determination is just as much a factor in being successful as anything . Whatever you choose to do , just do it well and you will succeed .

I play A LOT of paintball. Nothing beats getting out into the woods along the creeks and shooting each other with paintballs. God, I love gogging people (gogging: the act of shooting someone in the lenses).

I have no idea. I'm not too familiar with the hiking around here. I'm going with my cousin, and it seems like he said something about Abrams Falls or something.
That is a pretty nice little walk (I think it is 2 miles out). Make sure when you get to the falls, you climb up on them.
