I think it's less butch going rogue and more he's had to carry a lot of non-football stuff on his shoulders and had to take his hand off the wheel

I didn't mean to imply he went rogue. I think he genuinely needs leadership, and there has been nobody to provide that. An AD would have kept things in check, before player issues escalated and the season veered out of control.

A lot is being put on David Blackburn to turn this thing around...in true Tennessee fashion this hire won't be what everyone expects.

Oh it wouldn't matter that much.

Jones could hold a presser stating the weight room has been turned into a gymnastics studio and that we are discontinuing the S&C program altogether and some would sop it up with a biscuit and a smile

I don't see a lot of people drinking the Butch Jones bath water these days.

👍🏻 Gotcha. Must've misread. Just goes to show... a lack of leadership (no chancellor right now, no AD right now) trickles all the way down to a lack of leadership between the hashes.

Try to believe it for just a second and then think about the ups and downs of the season.

It will start to make sense.

I know we don't want to believe it but ....

This makes a lot of sense. Season started like this team just wasn't prepared. Some major letdowns, then when the team needed to dig deep down they just couldn't find the motivation needed. That kind of mental training is part of preseason conditioning, finding the inner strength to dig a little deeper when you feel you have nothing left in the tank.

Wow..just wow. That is..umm...just wow. I mean why though? Those guys earned their rep. Why with everything on the line for themselves and the team would they slack off? Just kids being kids, not knowing what is really best for them? That just...wow. It actually makes sense..how could anybody really blame Butch for trusting their leadership? I would have.

I hate to say this, but it is not always best when potential draft picks come back for their senior year. Sometimes, it is better for them to go. It is human nature to be cautious to protect yourself as an asset and future earnings and therefore, not play and work as hard. One is a fear of injury and another is that they believe their talent and prior 3 years of hard work is enough to get by in their last season. I was thrilled when our guys came back, but I also had a fear that this could happen. You either have to be all in or all out. It happened to us in 1999, and I believe it happened to us this year.
