There's a lot of truth in that article.
I'm not going to elaborate further, but Travis tried vry hard to find people with a more favorable review of the current goings on to balance the story and could not. He also asked for comment from Butch and Hart two weeks ago, asked again after giving UT some of the quotes for the story, was told he would receive quotes or an interview with both Butch and Hart, and then UT never delivered on that.
If you want to blame someone for it being one-sided, then it lies at the feet of Ryan Robinson in media relations for dropping the ball on getting a response.
Inside the failing of Tennessee Volunteers football under Butch Jones
Pretty reputable guy in Travis Haney talking up the "truths." Not good publicity to a national audience.

So the problem was expectations?
The issue with player leadership is interesting. It is one of CBJs hallmarks to have a player led team. He had been pushing for that since he got here. But as you grow leaders there are bound to be some problems, so it is logical that you may have some growing pains getting that part right. That, coupled with loose accountability in the weight room and a splintered staff on the defensive side explains a lot that went wrong this year. Very bad timing given the level of expectations on the team for this season.
no, not necessarily. expectations are different than hype.
i think the hype was over blown all off season, and posted about it regularly, and was basically told "to enjoy the ride".
hype has nothing to do with realistic expectations.
you finish 9-3 and go to the Sugar Bowl, a lot can be forgiven.
you finish 8-4 losing to Vandy and USCe, not only did you miss on the expectation part, the hype turns on you.
the good news....there'll be no hype this off season...only expectations. in fact, i expect this off season, UT will be written off in many circles, and that actually should play in to CBJ's hands, with his bunker mentality when it comes to media and fans.

Some of you should take off until August. Never seen such crybaby group of fans that enjoy coaching changes every other year. Go out and do something productive.
Seems like CBJ needs to find these unnamed sources and fire them first.
I am not saying anything is untrue, but media does seem to have agenda in Knoxville.
I am sure CBJ has not helped his own situation with the way he deals with the media.
Why release it now? Sounds like who ever is behind this wants to impact recruiting to ensure next season is a failure.
Why not give the time for the Coach and the incoming AD to evaluate things rather than blasting the entire program right in the middle of prime recruiting time?
The media and part of the support / fan base surrounding UT do more harm to the program than any coach has ever done.
This all truly makes me want to hide the fact that I am a fan for fear of being classified as one of the whiny idiots.
what's important to you, will be important to your people.
