I don't think everyone is discussing the same kid...Ruot Monnyang is who was initially mentioned, but somehow the discussion started to include Bol Bol who is a completely different person.

Monyyong
Kid's got a motor. Offer him and feed him steak.
I think he played with Bone on Team Thad.

Ruot Monyyong Mixtape @ UA Association In Indy!

Scout’s Notes:

Future150 Atlanta Easter Showcase: (April 3-5, 2015) Ruot was the most dominate player in the 17U division and the MVP for the weekend. At 6-foot-9 inches, he was domintating the paint on both ends of the floor. He averaged 6 blocks per game while scoring with a variey of moves from the low block. His ability to put the ball on the floor when attacking his defender is what stood out the most. He is a great rebounder and runs the floor extremely well. Look for him to make jump into the national rankings next update.
College Projection:

High-Major
Complete Rankings:

This player is not currently ranked
Skills Review:

Shooting: Average
Dribbling: Good
Passing: Average
Rebounding: Excellent
Intangibles: Excellent

Chance we get him or is this a waste of time to get excited about?

From what I've read, he has an offer from Iowa State. We haven't even offered.

Dec 3 this season
Battle of the Border Update: Whites Creek @ruot_hooper24 notched a dbl dbl with 18 points,13 rebs, 3 steals, n 7 blocks in a strong showing

The recruitment of Jordan Bowden
To be quite frank, we’ve checked on all the kids here. We checked, and the comment we got back from a guy was ‘He’s not good enough.’ She said, 'Well, that guy needs to be shot.' And based on tonight, I would say that I agree with her. But we promised we would go down and see him play. When we went down there to see him play, one the schools that was involved was Tulsa. A guy that was recruiting him was (assistant coach) Mike Schwartz, who’s now on our staff.

I agree with bowden's mom and Barnes needs to find a different in state scouting source.
Hoping this Monyyong kid doesn't slip thru the cracks without even a spring signing period offer from Tennessee.

I watched him in the State Tournament and thought that he had a lot of potential. He is very raw but has a great upside. He can be a rim protector and rebounder. He has a natural sense of timing and the frame to really fill out. He also appeared to be a great teammate. There were several occasions where he had an easy shot but shared the BB for his guy to get a lay up.

Do you know anything about his history?
Sudan
South Memphis
Hunters Lane
And New Orleans is in there somewhere.

Trying to put bits and pieces together.

not all 3 stars are created equal!!!! Some 3 stars are diamonds in the rough with much upside. I think Coach Barnes staff is very good at picking those players with a lot of upside.

I like several of the three-stars he's brought on board, but if he could bring us a 4- or 5- star with even greater potential than anyone he's brought in so far, I'd probably be impressed. I'd especially like to see a studly Big or two who could hit the ground running in Knoxville without having to wait a couple years for said big(s) to develop.

VN's Christmas list. Please Santa.

Isaac Copeland 6'9 220 forward for Georgetown plans to transfer at the end of the semester. He is from Raleigh NC. Would be a nice feel in guy for his final season. In 73 games at Georgetown, he averaged 8.6 points and 4.5 rebounds.

I'd trade Lew Evans for him right now.

lol, all Lews missing is red hair to be the step child. I think he does some positive things that don't get mentioned. His negatives, so far, have obviously outweighed his positives. But we need him this yr to be a space eater. And he defends pretty well. He's just got to make some more shots and stop fouling so dad gum much!

Didn't we essentially take him instead of that giant Turkish guy last cycle?

Omer Yurtseven 7 footer that signed with NC State. Looks like he did qalify though, cause hes listed on the Wolfpacks roster.

Not sure. Their was one overseas option we were going after, but I think he chose somewhere else. And it seems like he didn't end of qualifying. I can't think of his name though.

Yeah we made a mistake there but I understand why we made the decision. A bird in the hand..
