Fidel Castro Dead at 90

I generally don't vote. I only voted against Trump because I feared his election would embolden white supremacists.

And like I thought it has. Since Trump was elected there has been a huge increase in hate crimes by white supremacists on black people.

Yeah it's weird all the redneck white supremacists in the south drove to CA, PA, NY to do all their hates crimes. And no one saw them do it and they didn't get caught. And some of them used washable marker like the white supremacists who wrote on the UT player's car. Stealthy, considerate hill people.

Please shown us credible numbers from the FBI, doj, etc. when they are released. I'm seeing a lot of aggression toward Trump supporters more so than the other way around soo...

There was a great study by a couple of Harvard University researchers that answered this question.

The answer basically comes down to proximity of who you live around. While it is true there are more poor white people than poor black people in America, most poor whites don't live in concentrated communities. They are spread out and in many cases live near more affulent white communities. This leads to a cultural interaction between rich and poor whites thus reducing the chances a poverty induced culture of violence arises. Poor whites by living beside more affulent whites are able to see that it's possible to advance in this society without resorting to violence.

This same is not true for poor blacks. Ulike poor whites that don't live in concentrated communities, poor black people live in concentrated communities called "ghettos". These poor concentrated communities are segregated from more affulent communities. Because these communities see no way out of the poverty they experience, this allows a culture of violence and desperation to develop.

And if you think this stuff is all theory, the same thing happened to whites in the early 1900s. Early white migrants from Europe lived in concentrated ghettos in large American cities like New York and Boston. This led to the development of large American gangs. Remember the movie Gangs of New York starting Leonardo DiCaprio? That basically shows what life was like when poor white people were concentrated into ghettos.

The government responded to the issue of white gang violence from European immigrants by creating the suburbs. This allowed poor whites to leave a cycle of violence in the inner city and move to the middle class.

the rest of it completely fine. that part. laughable. overall, coming from you, I give it an A. if you had said land grants, or any of the programs for settling the unsettled parts, or heck you could have brought up the treatment of Native Americans, and you would have been dead on.

I just found it amusing that two people can say the same thing in such a different way. You should learn the art of brevity. You lose some meaning to what you're saying, but most of that is lost when people try to process over 100 characters, anyway.

tl;dr

But he did convert, willingly. Call a man what he asks to be called unless he has a hilarious nickname IMO.

funny that he converted to the religion responsible for making slavery a global trade resource. and the one religion still actively enslaving people today.

I guess its better to be the slaver than the slave in some people's world.

and I don't know about the Clay's but many freed slaves didn't take their slave owners name. instead a good bit took the names of those who helped them or historical figures, Washington, Jefferson etc etc.

False.

Robert Mugabe is a true African hero.

The only reason Europe and America are so anti-Mugabe now is because he basically told white people to get the f--- out of Zimbabwe. He wanted to stop the exploitation of black people in Zimbabwe by European and American business interests so he took control of Zimbabwe's resources from the foreign whites that controlled Zimbabwe since colonialism and turned it over to the native black population. Here is a good article that explains why Mugabe is so hated by the white power structure and why Mandela isn't: Why the West Loves Mandela (and Hates Mugabe) The basic upshot is Mandela allowed the white economic power structure that existed during colonialism and apartheid to exist after South Africa got "independence." Mugabe on the other hand kicked out the white economic power structure that existed during colonialism and this is what pissed white people off.

Mugabe took his country back and gave it to the people. This is why the white power structure hates him so much. Back when he was another one of those corrupt African leaders that let Europe and America control Zimbabwe's resources exploiting the land for their gain, they loved Mugabe. In fact the Queen of England bestowed Mugabe with knighthood in 1994. However, once he said Africa should be for Africans the white power structure got mad and labeled him a dictator.

You see the pattern? When a leader is doing America or Europe's bidding he's cool. He gets things like a knighthood. But when he kicks white business interests out of his country and turns the resources over to the people he becomes an evil dictator. This is the same story we saw with Batista and Castro in Cuba. When a foreign leader does what we say he's our friend. When he doesn't do what we say he's a dictator.

The truth is it was white European countries and America that turned Zimbabwe from the breadbasket of Africa to what it is today. After Mugabe refused to allow them to exploit the resources of the country, they crippled the economy of Zimbabwe through economic sanctions. The same type sanctions they have tried to cripple Cuba with. Its the same story all over the world. If you go against the white power structure they will try to destroy your country through sanctions. If you do what they say they will suck your nation dry of its resources like they've done all over Africa.

so again, a black despot is better than a white despot, just because of the color of his skin? and as far as "fighting the evil white machine" goes he just became the machine, he didn't destroy it or kick it out.

Put 800 rats in a 15 square foot room with little food. After you do that, put 8 rats in the same sized room with comparable quantities of food.

Get back to me on the result.
Reminds me of the speech he 'Smith' gave Morpheus when he was tied up about how humans are a virus. He wasn't wrong.

Although Cuban dictator Fidel Castro died on Nov. 25, 2016, the influence of the intelligence services that he created lives on. Castro, who ruled Cuba with an iron fist for five decades, created a spy apparatus whose outsized impact has extended far from the shores of the Caribbean country.

Cuba did not have a professional foreign intelligence service before Castro seized power in 1959. Under Soviet auspices, it created one in 1961. Initially called the Direccion General de Inteligencia (DGI), and later renamed the Direccion de Inteligencia (DI), Cuba’s most important intelligence agency began training its officers in Moscow in 1962. KGB tutelage proved of enormous value, both to the Castro regime and to the USSR.

The DGI quickly developed into an elite service. Brian Latell, a former CIA analyst, noted in his 2012 book Castro’s Secrets, “Many retired CIA officials stand in awe of how Cuba, a small island nation, could have built up such exceptional clandestine capabilities and run so many successful operations against American targets.” In Latell’s opinion, “Cuban intelligence…ran circles around both” the CIA and the FBI.
William Rosenau and Ralph Espach, both senior analysts at the Virginia-based think tank, the Center for Naval Analyses, concurred with Latell’s conclusion. Writing in The National Interest, both offered the judgment: “Cuban intelligence services are widely regarded as among the best in the world—a significant accomplishment, given the country’s meager financial and technological resources (“Cuba’s Spies Still Punch Above Their Weight,” Sept. 29, 2013).”

Cuban intelligence successfully penetrated U.S. national security agencies both during the Cold War and in the years since. Following his 1987 defection to the U.S., Florentino Aspillaga Lombard, a top official in Castro’s intelligence agencies, exposed dozens of Cuban double agents who had infiltrated various segments of American society, from the government to non-profit organizations. Many of the spies had been living in the U.S. for years.

Black on black violence is the result of poverty and inequality in this country.

Police violence on black bodies is state sanctioned violence.

Two completely different things. You can't appeal to poor people in desperate situations to not be poor anymore or be desperate. That is a problem the government must solve by improving the living conditions of black people in this country.

But we can appeal to our government to not kill us anymore. That is why black lives matter exists. To stop the government from killing it's own citizens.

This is 100% false. Poor white states like West Virginia and Kentucky have homicide rates of around 6.5 per 100k. Poor black states like Louisiana and Mississippi have homicide rates of around 20 per 100k.

All 4 states are incredibly poor. Yet the violence is not even close to the same.

All 4 states are incredibly poor. Yet the violence is not even close to the same.

The reason for these differences is the fact poor blacks tend to live in isolated densely populated ghettos in urban areas that are heavily segregated based on income while poor whites tend to be more dispersed. Poor white are more likely to live near affluent areas than middle class blacks.

Its this concentration of poor people into isolated ghettos that produces the proclivity to violence.

I know you'd rather believe black people just have a genetic proclivity to violence that white people don't have but the truth is our skin color has nothing to do with gun violence. It's the conditions under which we live.
