Fidel Castro Dead at 90

Dang. My bad.

I still like Hootie as well.

The way country music is today, Hootie and Blowfish would easily been categorized as country by todays standards.

Music today is pretty bad, I grew up a metal head and really am disappointed in the type of rock/metal that we have today.

I'm not a usual music listener. I have a mix of EDM going right now.

Wrong. Have you ever been to Miami? Little Havana? Hialeah? I bet not. But I have. A million times. But no, you and your black supremacy stories have you believing this nonsense.

Funny how you avoid conversation with me though. haha.

I've been to Miami before. Hell I even got a cousin that got married to a white Cuban chick down there.

Only black people in Miami that are not from America are Haitians.

Really? By who?

All the white Cubans that live there?

There are barely any black Cubans in America. The only Cubans who have run to America are the white property owning Cubans that lost their stolen wealth when Fidel took power and nationalized everything.

We discussed this, I know some black Cubans, have done business with them, eaten dinner at their house. And they hated Castro.

LOL. Knowing a few people means nothing. I mean there were some black people that voted for Trump and like him. That doesn't mean that most black people support Trump or like him. 90% of black people voted for Hillary Clinton and despise Donald Trump.

And in that same fashion you might know a few black Cubans that dislike Castro. That is not true for the overwhelming majority.

Here is a BBC interview featuring a black Cuban poet living in London talking about how he remembers Fidel Castro: https://vimeo.com/193317955

He says basically what I said. Before Fidel, Cuba was a racist apartheid state. After Fidel, black people were given more opportunity. De Jure racial discrimination was officially ended. Black people were given the right to free education and healthcare. Life improved dramatically. Was it perfect? No. Is there still alot of racism in the country? Yes. But all in all, life under Castro was an incredible improvement for black people in Cuba.

Only around 10% of black people are responsible and think for themselves?

I said the same stuff already in this thread. Black people in Cuba have the same issues we have here in America. White racism is still rampant. I never said Cuba was same racial utopia.

My only point with regard to Castro vis-a-vis race relations is that Cuba pre-Castro was way more racist. Cuba during the time of Batista (the dictator that ruled before Castro) was basically an apartheid state where black people were BY LAW excluded from all walks of life.

Castro changed all that. He ended DE JURE racial discrimination in the country. But just the Civil Rights Act in this country didn't totally end racial discrimination, Fidel's laws didn't end the racial problems in Cuba either. Cuba today is better off for black people than Cuba before Castro. However, Cuba (like America) still has a long way to go before black people are truly equal.
