Tidbit from just a vol

Amazing the lengths some will go to beat down the team they claim to cheer for. What good does that do? Guess I shouldn't be surprised anymore

Maybe someone should quote the op again for those who skipped it

Interpret these statements as an agent was checking around for a bigger contract/payday to pitch to Butch. Purdue is so bottom of the B1G right now, that they might actually throw money at Jones after being rebuked by other coaches. The agent looking for a fee exchanged some communiques with Butch and nothing came of it.

bottom of the B1G is a perfect fit for Butch Jones.

Who is beating down the team? I believe people are "beating" down Butch Jones.

The team deserves a better coach.

I'm not a true fan though, what do I know.

Butch is a part of the team. Attempting to separate the 2 is ridiculous. This team deserves better than it gets

Some feel it proves they are die hard fans by minimizing the good and highlighting the bad.

To each their own.

Go Vols!

Arkansas was a good loss? Ducking LSU was pretty nice too

If UT is clearly inferior then is that really a good loss too?

Good loss, bad loss....what matters is winning the SEC East, playing in the SECCG. We haven't sniffed either in about a decade.

I knew John and Jimmy, what was their character's names?

John Wayne played Tom Doniphone (yeah, that was the character's name)
Jimmy Stewart played Ransom Stoddard
"The girl," Hallie was played by Vera Miles

What a cast! What a film!

That's a great movie. I never would have come up with that. I watched it again not too long ago.

And drudge up Jones shopping in Indiana?

May hurt some feelings.

... I know that CBJ has told people that he's already reevaluated some of the changes that he made this year and has identified what he sees as success and failure and is already working on a plan for 2017.

This sounds great...but it does little to settle a fan base that has already lost confidence in his abilities to evaluate (or reevaluate) anything.

To me CBJ has hit his plateau, I thought this after 4 blown losses last year., but I didn't call for him to be fired. He then goes and blows games to horrible teams this year so I say he needs to go and find a place where he can succeed on his level. Now To add he wants a raise and extension, I'm sorry but 8-4 is avg. bonuses are not past out for avg job donein the real world. I say thank you for being care taker but we don't celebrate avg around here (we fired Phulmer) but good bye.
With that said, if he stays and for those who think a top notch OC or DC won't come here because of being fired with CBJ at end of next season look no further than Dave Clawson. He was horrible here. The whole staff gets fired and he goes on to be pretty good head Coach. So there are options either way. All up to $$$,$$$ people to get the right thing done either way. GoVols

JAV is well connected and dropped this off today

First, from what I've been told, Butch Jones is a full go at Tennessee. He has kicked the tires at Purdue but there's really no interest there from either side. He's told multiple people that he knows that his best opportunity is the one he already has. I'm sure that there will be more rumors and tire kicking but there's very little chance that he will go elsewhere.

I believe that you will see a better close to recruiting than you might expect and a renewed sense of urgency from the top down. I know that CBJ has told people that he's already reevaluated some of the changes that he made this year and has identified what he sees as success and failure and is already working on a plan for 2017.
Whatever you might think of him, no one works harder than Butch Jones. He is extremely driven.

I also believe, based on several conversations, that CBJ is very serious about bringing in highly regarded assistants to replace anyone who leaves. There will almost certainly be a shared OC position with DeBord coaching the OL and a high profile QB coach. I know that there already has been an informal 3rd party conversation with Helfrich and Applewhite. I believe that both of them would be open to the CO OC idea.

Bob Shoop will be the DC at Tennessee next year. CBJ doesn't want to start over again and Shoop knows that his reputation took a bit of a hit this year. He loves living in Tennessee and he's excited about what can be done with some changes next season.

I've been doubtful about JG as a passer because I've seen him be very inconsistent in that department. Someone I trust very much has relayed to me that he has made a huge leap in the last couple of months specifically. He's really worked very hard to learn the offense and has looked very confident. He's always been an electric runner and now he's rounding into form as a passer. I love QD but if JG keeps improving, especially with a really good QB coach, he's most likely going to be the man.

I've been critical of CBJ this year and I have my doubts still. However, he is the absolute best option for Tennessee for the next couple of years. The worst thing that could happen is for him to leave voluntarily or involuntarily. There isn't anyone who is a viable, better option than Butch right now. No one knows how things will play out. Those who are comparing him to Dooley are foolish and those longing for Kiffin are deluding themselves. The proof will be in the next few weeks as to how the rest of CBJ's tenure will go here. If Bob Shoop is allowed to get coaches of his own choosing and CBJ can attract a young, high profile QB coach, I'll see that as a huge step forward in the evolution of Butch Jones."

No one, especially Helfrich is going to be "Co OC " with Debord. Half these things Butch should have figured out last year. He's basically had the same team 4 years. How much more familiar can you be?

Which has a greater chance of happening, Helfrich coming to work for Butch Jones or that Zimbabwe Prince putting $250k in my bank account after I gave him my account number via a very convincing email?

I don't see it being that far *****ed at all. Both OC names that were listed would be home run hires and both will be looking for new employment. And considering the lack of offensive playmakers and talent both lacked last year and the last few yrs I see no reason that either one of them wouldn't want to come coach the roster of QB's and skill players we have. I still wish P.Williams would have stuck it out and for Kamara to return his SR year but besides that I don't see many OC's that would be excited to call plays and coach what we have at QB,WR,TE and RB.Would definitely be the best roster that CMH would have at his disposal. CMA is a different story but it wasn't like he had playmakers and QB's all over the roster when he was at Ala like what they have now and Texas couldn't pay a QB to come there till Strong got Buechele there. And to be honest I don't think Buechele has the ceiling that Dormady or Guarantano have. And CMH didn't have near what he would be walking into at TN the last few seasons at Oregon since Marcus won the Heisman headed for the NFL. But to answer your question hell yea I would bet Butch could get either of them to come here as long as they don't get HC jobs.Assistants already work and are used to working on very short contracts so the chance of Butch getting fired next season shouldn't have very little or no effect on their decision to come here or not if offered.Neither would stay unemployed long regardless of what happens next year and who is to say if Butch did get fired the next HC could keep them, especially if the offense played well. Assistants just can't worry about what happens year to year. Hell a good year by either one of them could lead to new HC gigs and could be gone after a year anyway. So little to no chance it has any bearing on their decision to come if if/when one is offered.

You're right!

So the administration needs to hire a Coach.

Ray Charles could see Butch Jones can't win, he cried when we needed a hail mary to beat a sub-par UGA. He acted like a baby when he lost to Vandy.

The team and fans deserve better than his corny ass quotes and euphemisms. We want results on the field!
