I am just riffing on what speculation I have read in this forum, but, what if the "powers that be" would not hire this Blackburn guy because he would "surely" fire Butch? (Just speculating on the speculating, mind you!). In which case, the problem goes much higher than the AD!

There is not much activity with the typical "insider" information, not sure if they know something and are being quite or if they just don't know anything.

Most want Blackburn. there are some that are opposed or maybe I should say want to check out others and not make a decision with only one candidate. David is still favorite but some folks are going to have to have minds changed

Butch will be mandated to win the East in 2017. Expectations will not be lower

I just can't see it. Schedule is tough and losing a lot of talent this year. New QB. Butch should go ahead and get his house on the market now for potential buyers..

Yup. No reason to wait. Sucks we will suffer with not 1 but 2 subpar recruiting classes by waiting a year when he'll be fired next year.

Even to the most general football fan that sounds ridiculous, we are losing every captain, our starting qb and our most productive players...dumb expectation, like I said even the most irrational fan knows that is stupid af

And if so why would he care, he knows it is undoable, still collects like 7.5 million and says so long folks, what's the point lol

All I'm saying is the fans expectation is 8-4 max but losing the talent we are I would expect less and hope for more

I agree. I think a new AD would atleast get his feet a little wet before he fires Butch and goes head on into a coaching search.

Expectations are already considerably LOWER. Hell, most of the posters on here are predicting it's CBJ's last season. How much lower can they get? Maybe with lower expectations we feel less pressure and over perform. Always the optimist!

The BIG problem is still $$$$ and LOTS of it.

Even after next season we still face a HUGE $$$ buyout.

Then the ONLY way we'll hire a proven, top notch Head Coach and get a great staff for him that can coach and are great recruiters will be more BIG $$$$$.

The only place to get HUGE $$$$ to attempt to bribe a good HC and a solid staff to come to Tennessee is from our boosters and I don't see them throwing that kind of HUGE $$$$ our way especially with a brand new AD even if it's Blackburn.

We can borrow $$$ to build buildings but NOT for a buyout or hiring coaches and we still don't have the kind of spare $$$ laying around like most other programs have.

We're still boxed into a bad corner no matter how we look at things.

Some days reality just really sucks, LOL!

Just keep praying that buTch and staff can keep recruiting top players.

You have to understand something. To some people, Tennessee is a small little school that has no money. Some fans actually believe that Tennessee couldnt pay a huge buyout and pay a top notch coach 6-7 million a year. They are as wrong as mayo on a corn dog, but thats what they believe.
