"Before Butch was hired at Tennessee he was taking the Purdue job, he was calling recruits that he had committed to Cincy and telling them he was going to Purdue and to come with him. When he was finally hired at Tennessee he never once gave those same recruits a courtesy call or tell them what he was doing after they were committed to him for over a year. Some had to scramble because it was so late in there recruiting. Reason I know this is because a few of these kids came to my camps and I had discussions with them about the situation. One family called him many times left messages and he didn't even have the common courtesy to call them back."

With ALL the piling on and throwing of stones there is one major thing missing that says a lot of where this program really is. They has been no rumors of players questioning Coach Butch Jones.

There will be some of that coming in the coming days and weeks but it will be just more of the witch hunt. If he had truly lost the trust of the players you would have already heard it by now.

Preston Williams and Jalen Hurd leaving mid season don't count?

And the players basically called those two out for being selfish. Remember Jennings' reaction to Preston dipping?

I agree with Bruin that the players seem to be strongly with Butch.

Vereen has gotten better but he isn't getting drafted. Kirkland is not developing into the star that I thought he was gonna turn into last year, you can make the argument that he is playing like he was last year. Not saying that's not good but he had the billing of being a monster at mlb and I just didn't see that this year.

I think it's ridiculous and confounding that we were that much worse at penalties and turnovers. For all of his problems, Butch Jones' teams are never undisiplined and lazy...until this year. That, to me, is the most worrisome thing I saw this year. Just a complete lack of mental focus.

Agreed but you also have to agree that isn't the norm for his teams. Discipline is why this season failed and I have some optimism he fixes it because he has a history of it.

That's what I'm saying, there was absolutely nothing in his coaching past to suggest that we would see this and there is absolutely no excuse for it.

He's clearly not fully healthy, though. He's been playing through it.

Kirkland has been hurt all year, man.

Tennessee continues to be ranked. Number 22...

Yeah, I was wondering how that might affect our bowl placement. I think the voters recognize we could beat or lose to virtually any team in the country on any given day. Hard to rank those kinds of teams.
