Maybe in a vacuum, but it sounds like Janceks dismissal was for off the field matters, and it's tough to gauge from the outside the true impact his behavior may have had.

I'll crucify Jones for a lot of things, but not for swinging for the fences with Shoop.

I don't buy the Jancek was fired for sexual indiscretions. If that is a fireable offense them half the coaches out here would unemployed.

We had a damn good thing going with our former DC. It was huge risk that no one here wanted to acknowledge that cost us the east.

Damn good thing going? If you mean we would have a lead at the half and the other team would make adjustments and then we lose. We had a great thing going.

Guys Schoop was lights out in the second half early in the season. If you can't see our 260 third string ends playing tackle as problems your crazy.

The last two years the D tackles would clog up the middle and JRM and the other lbs would make lots of tackles. We lost our D tackles and our best linebackers.

After all the injuries our D tackles would get pushed into the linebackers. No tackles had to be double teamed so the offensive lineman can fire straight off and block the second level. When you can't plug the middle or get any push your screwed. It also hurt Barnett because the QB could step up to avoid rush. If there was a push in the middle he would of had even more sacks.

He was supposedly bringing his mistress around to team functions while his wife was in substance abuse rehab. Made Butch extremely uncomfortable, as it happened in front of recruits and their families.

I don't think he would have fired Jancek if that hadn't happened.

Shoop was equally as bad to start games.

Jancek had one or Two bad plays a game that cost us badly on a few games. Hell on shoop a best day he had 1-2 bad quarters

It's one thing we will probably never know the full story on.

But even strictly construed, the only mode that move doesn't look better in is hindsight.

Yep and that doesn't pass the smell test especially with his son on the team. Not buying the ocean front property in Arizona.

Even without the whole "Jancek brought around some mysterious mistress" stuff I STILL would have thoroughly enjoyed seeing Butch go get Shoop and make him our DC. Mistress or not it was a good move by Butch and one I, and a lot of other people, would have made regardless of some mistress problems from Jancek.

Per Hubbs...

"Kippy Brown at QB club...was asked how much he disliked kiffin for leaving. He said nice things about kiffin and said that the reality is that right now kiffin would be a good fit for the Vols.

Kippy went on to say that according to people he has spoken to part of orgeron getting the job at lsu was that kiffin is joining him as his oc in Baton Rouge"

If Butch is indeed coaching for his job next year, and even if he wants out he wants to pad that resume, he surely will go with the qb that gives us the best chance. Can't compare the Worley/Dobbs situation he obviously tried to RS Dobbs twice and JG got his. It's open competition now.

Shoop had the better resume but as I commented at the time JJ had the comfort level and trust of the players. A better new coach doesn't always get better results at first. No one wanted to think that made any sense a year ago but anyone with an semblance of intelligence now can see it.

I expect the tables to start to flip next year if he stays though.

I hate how the Shoop hire worked out. It's just typical Tennessee.

Felt like we got a massive upgrade at DC and stole a promising coordinator from a struggling James Franklin/PSU team. Then PSU goes on to win 10 games and have its best season in years while Shoop's defense gets utterly embarrassed week after week and makes Vandy look like Baylor on offense.

Seems like any time we think we are getting an upgrade or something good is about to happen, it blows up in our faces.

The Tennessee way...nothing goes our way. If it does, it is just to set us up for even bigger disappointment later.

Go get the Louisville AD. He'd bring Kiffin back ha

I will not believe Kiffin will make a lateral coaching move. He is gunning for another HC spot.

If/when Butch is leaves/fired this year or next..he is going to take JG with him. Butch should be hoping that kid plays like he is potentially capable..A transcendent talent at QB for a couple of years is about the only thing that could save his ass now. I shudder to think what the defense is going to look like next year. The offense could still be very good, but the way this bunch tends to regress talent...wouldn't bet on it.

Hart wanted Jancek out. UT needed all potential problems gone facing a Title IX lawsuit.

And QD likely will transfer if he thinks he won't be the starter. We could be down to SJones and Zac Jancek as backups. And of course, JJ, who we seem to plug and play everywhere.

If he is the starter next year, Then I doubt that happens

All these schools making bigtime moves & we're gonna stick it out with catchphrase McGee.

So disappointing.

What kind of looks will Kiffin get at Oregon once they fire their coach?

If Jones is fired and can only get a MAC level job, or goes to some wasteland like Purdue, I'm sure JG won't crap in his own mess kit.

Kiffin probably helped his good buddy's cause by agreeing to take the LSU OC job if he isn't offered HC somewhere. It's a safe bet he'll get HC offers this year-- and if he doesn't like any of them, why not go to LSU for a year and collect a boatload of $$. Kiffin and Saban have run their course, and Sark's waiting to step in.
