Recount 2016

I want to know why Trump is going off on twitter like he is? Doesn't he have some presidential things to do? The man is a fruit loop.

I voted for Hilary and I'm terrified of Trump, but I don't think this recount is good. Due to the fact that the polls were so off (when they never have been before) I am afraid there was tampering, but I'm more afraid of what would happen in this country if that was overturned. (you think it's bad now?)

Do you not recall 2004?

But I hear what you're saying. I too am terrified when I think about the mobs of rioting conservatives tearing **** up in cities all across America when things don't go their way.

Kerry was supposed to be the winner in 04 based on exit polls.

I don't follow politics as closely as you guys, but as an example before the election the polls had Georgia going "pink". Then the results come in and Trump has the state pretty much by a landslide. One county that was more than 30 percent Hispanic population goes for Trump.

Now there is no way I thought that the South would go for Hilary, but I certainly felt like the polls would have been a bit closer to the real truth then predicting a landslide Electoral victory for her.

I am thinking more of the ones who think of Trump as their Fuhrer.

There were a couple of people on here saying that Hillary might take Georgia, and I said Trump would win it by 5%. He won by 5.8%.

The polls were really not any more far off than 2012 (barring Wisconsin). There's just more whining about it this time because the GOP outperformed polling, as opposed to 2012 when Romney did the opposite.

Popular Vote
2016 RCP Average: +3.3 Clinton; Actual: +1.7 Clinton (Trump +1.6)
2012 RCP Average: +0.7 Obama; Actual: +3.9 Obama (Romney -3.2)

Florida
2016 RCP Average: +0.2 Trump; Actual: +1.3 Trump (Trump +1.1)
2012 RCP Average: +1.5 Romney; Actual: +0.9 Obama (Romney -2.4)

Pennsylvania
2016 RCP Average: +1.9 Clinton; Actual: +1.2 Trump (Trump +3.1)
2012 RCP Average: +3.8 Obama; Actual: +5.4 Obama (Romney -1.6)

Michigan
2016 RCP Average: +3.4 Clinton; Actual: +0.3 Trump (Trump +3.7)
2012 RCP Average: +4.0 Obama; Actual: +9.5 Obama (Romney -5.5)

Wisconsin
2016 RCP Average: +6.5 Clinton; Actual: +1.0 Trump (Trump +7.5)
2012 RCP Average: +4.2 Obama; Actual: +6.9 Obama (Romney -2.7)

Colorado
2016 RCP Average: +2.9 Clinton; Actual: +2.9 Clinton (no difference)
2012 RCP Average: +1.5 Obama; Actual: +5.4 Obama (Romney -3.9)

New Hampshire
2016 RCP Average: +0.6 Clinton; Actual: +0.4 Clinton (Trump +0.2)
2012 RCP Average: +2.0 Obama; Actual: +5.6 Obama (Romney -3.6)

Nevada
2016 RCP Average: +0.8 Trump; Actual: +2.4 Clinton (Trump -3.2)
2012 RCP Average: +2.8 Obama; Actual: +6.7 Obama (Romney -3.9)

North Carolina
2016 RCP Average: +1.0 Trump; Actual: +3.8 Trump (Trump +2.8)
2012 RCP Average: +3.0 Romney; Actual: +2.0 Romney (Romney -1.0)

2012 polls underestimated enthusiasm for Obama as well as his campaign's GOTV effort. 2016 underestimated Trump's ability to draw white working class voters to the polls and at the same time assumed enthusiasm for HRC was at Obama levels.

Trump tended to overperform in states with significant blue collar populations, which were pretty much the most direct targets of his message.

A large Hispanic population doesn't mean they are citizens and can vote - at least non-citizens aren't supposed to vote.

Polls are dependent on who is queried and who will respond. I don't answer the phone if I don't recognize the number, and I think a lot of people get to that point as they get older. A lot of people get very good at blowing by someone asking questions and handing out pamphlets, too.

An exit poll after voting - why? It's multiple choice based on somebody's ideas not an essay answer based on my own, so why bother? I'll wait for the count; screw the exit polls.

Finally the vote distribution is highly skewed by location - the country is highly R by geography and D in larger metropolitan areas. Flyover country doesn't get a lot of interest, so it's not going to figure proportionately in polls either. Not as exciting to stand at an intersection with a couple of stop signs in the "middle of nowhere".

Guess it will be another day off school/work for the crybabies and freeloaders.

I hope so. Me and my friends did not take advantage of it last time to miss class for freeeee.

It'll be like saying I'm a woman so I can dunk in women's basketball.

Trump sent two tweets yesterday alleging that millions of people had voted illegally in multiple states and that this is what cost him the popular vote (as well as his not campaigning as hard in certain states where he may have gotten more support). He also sent another tweet which objected to a recount. If he honestly believes there was such massive voter fraud in Clinton's favor, why wouldn't he want a recount?

Or it could be the pollsters were completely off this time and far underestimated how much the country as a whole detested the idea of a Hillary presidency. And how much they really wanted to break up the status quo.

This election was about democracy in action, pure and simple. It was a revolt against the standing parties and the lackluster candidates we keep getting year in and year out. It was about parties ignoring the will of the people for so long and the people not having a voice. We finally had enough and decided to toss a wrench into the gears to see what would happen. Americans are kinda funny that way. You keep telling them not to do something and that just makes us want it even more.

Well, sure... but why is he alleging there was massive voter fraud in an election that he won? If the outcome of the popular vote is so important to him and he is so convinced that he's right, he shouldn't mind a recount.

There's some serious cognitive dissonance going on with Trump. I have a feeling this popular vote stuff will stick in his craw for the rest of his life.

If he's serious, though, he should file for a full audit in California. For God's sake, the sitting president was imploring non-citizens to vote. I have no doubt that it happened, although probably not to the extent that it would change the popular vote results.

All I have seen thus far are the ones who think Hillary should have been Fuhrer.

I really resent this remark. My family and I have worked hard for what we have all our lives. I went through terrible financial hardship through Bush, but I never felt so sickened by any of our elected presidents as I do Trump. I find it understandable that people are upset. The tape of what he said about using his fame to molest females would have been enough to impeach Obama but we have prominent evangelical preachers putting their head in the sand due to what? Roe Vs. Wade (How many Republican years and it's not been overturned? Gay marriage? (while our new first lady has nude girl on girl photos circulating around?)

I don't want to go around and around about this, as it has been argued ad nauseum. Still, dismissing my feelings as being some Lazy crybaby is why I say that there are people who actually worship Trump to the point of dismissing huge red flags that are actually not propoganda or speculation..

Bush years were fine until the sub prime mortage meltdown brought about by Bill Clinton's community reinvestment act and a democratic congress. Obama has been an epic failure and being black no amount of BS would have got him impeached because of that fact. Have you been in a coma for the last eight ****ing years or are you just a limp waisted pansy? Man up and grow a pair if possible. The only worshippers are on your side and we're seeing the results, 93 million outta the workforce and an additional 15 million added to the food stamp recipients. This election is a repudiation of failed economic and social policies. January 20 can't get here soon enough!

I just wished the Republican Party (which is suppose to be the Family value party) would have found someone who isn't such an immoral a loose cannon.
