Last years class has some studs but overall disappointing & 17 class is pretty terrible.

I'd be interest for someone to run those numbers backwards to the Fulmer years. I think you'd learn that all of these coaches recruit similarly. I think the reasonable conclusion to draw is that it has more to do with Tennessee as a program than it does with them.

With that said, we get plenty of talent in the door. As much as Clemson, Oklahoma, Auburn, etc. It is enough to content for and win a national title, although clearly not enough to put together a Saban-esque dynasty.

Butch is out recruiting that is true.

He knows he needs to do some things differently.

However instead of trying to really fix it and put up with this fan base his agent is working the back channels looking for a way out.

I don't know what is going to happen.

But I am sure we will not be prepared for whatever bowl we do play in.

Very good post-- there are so many things wrong after four years, it is hard to list them all or pinpoint one or two....

Was working back channels before the Vandy loss. Started happenening since the bashing he has taken for losing East. He messed up with that loss though. Prob has to take pay cut

Let me be clear. This fanbase has went above and beyond. No fanbase would continue to turn out in the numbers we have with the amount of losing we have witnessed.

UT fans as a whole are the best fanbase in the country IMO.

That said there is also a group who stamp their feet and fold their arms seemingly all the time because nothing is ever good enough.

How hard of a push? Is he willing to take a step down somewhere maybe not even HC say in NFL like coordinator or something to not be here?

For the record I think he was looking to get out since last summer when he was furious about the lawsuit but I don't know that to be true

Agreed. But a lot of fans have been very patient, and I can't blame them for being over it all after these crap performances. This fanbase has invested an awful lot of time and money for a very limited return.

Being blocked from letting Shoop hire his own staff, if this in fact was the case, could have led to some fissures undermining the organization as well that finally showed out down the stretch. Probably not feeling fully supported by TPTB. Hard to think he'd go to the trouble of bringing Shoop in and then hand-cuffing him with loyalty priorities.

I agree with all that. That's the description of the majority of UT fans.

We have scrub DEs playing tackle. That's not depth.
We have no linebackers.
We don't have corners who can cover receivers from Vandy.

Rewatched some of the game today, and Jumper was out of position on so many plays! He had a horrible game.
