My comment about saban was in reference to how unrealistic this mob of idiots sounds. "Bring in a proven winner" sounds so stupid to me. It's not based in reality considering our current situation.

What is your opinion of Brian Kelly?

Reports are he is looking around and I think he would be very realistic.

Might as well give him all of Helfrich's accomplishments as well. Dude was a bigger fraud/coattail rider than Larry Coker.

Takes a long time to make up $10m. Most hires don't work out. Not a risk they are gonna want to take.

Best case scenario is that Butch somehow rights the ship next season or he finds a suitor to restart his clock this winter (unlikely) or next.

Google how he threw his players under the bus this year in every press conference. Never accepted responsibility for losses. Always someone's fault.

Back to our Vols. You can't fix stupid, people. There is ignorant and there is stupid - most of you know the difference. Butch cannot claim ignorance. But that's his football acumen. His bank account acumen has been strong based on his contracts through the years and currently. It would surprise me to see him leave a $4 M a year job on his own with a huge (stupid) buy out. If he does, wonderful. In reality though all we can hope to see are wholesale changes in coaches. Remember the year there were 6 coaching changes with Dools? Expect the same. JMO, we are stuck at 7-8 win regular seasons going forward barring a mini-miracle(s) until they pull the trigger.

Short sample size? He took over Mike Belotti's core and won with it. Larry Coker did the same with Butch Davis's roster. Grading him past that showed he wasn't ELITE...maybe not even mediocre. Kelly's assistants managed to gather some talent and Helfrich was at that level...at first...how'd that end up. It's not a coaching X's and O's thing...much respect for him. I think he absolutely hates recruiting and that would kill him in the SEC...and it would exclude him as an elite coach...part of the elite package. Name me a legendary college coach who sucked at recruiting.

OK. Dude. Butch has plenty of critics may be rightfully so. As of now he is our coach and I support him. You have been just aching to be so right. You might be. But as long as the potential is there for him to be leading our players next year I will support him, while not necessarily agreeing with everything he does. But go off by all means.

They won't go down as much as you're probably thinking. We've just now bottomed out in basketball after the pearl era. Fan support dwindled a little under Cuonzo, then Tyndall and now Barnes.

Each new year "inherits" ticket holders from the previous year. Ticket sales will go down but not $10m worth. Nowhere close.

Of course not 10 mil. But they'll go down for sure. They sold so many because fans believed that this was the year. We all did. Only to be let down. Won't fall for it again.
