Maybe a healthy K-Mac, Tuttle, Phillips, Kongbo, Taylor to name a few. K-Mac when healthy takes up 2 OL. You don't think K-Mac and Tuttle, maybe Johnson will not be able to put pressure up the middle?

As usual, I think you are being more pessimistic than is called for..
Well, look at past results. These guys did next to nothing this season when 100%.

I learned my lesson the hard way straying in Dooley's corner even after the UK loss in 2011.

Writing is on the wall for Butch. Doesn't matter who he fires, what coordinators he brings in, how well he recruits..he's a below average head coach. Terrible game manager.

Then he pulls the chicken **** lastnight leaving before most of the media can even get to the presser letting Dobbs answer most of the tough questions Lol..I have no reason to support this clown.

I'll always support the program & want what's best for the team..and the sooner Butch gets out of Knoxville, the better.

It's simply not fair to compare to DD to Butch. Their fate might be the same in the end but there has been nothing similar about their tenures.

I believe Dooley didn't lose me until the Miss St game his last year. Learned my lesson on objectivity and lost causes.

I'm not comparing them. I mean when it's clear as day that Dooley wasn't the guy for the job, I stayed in his corner clamoring for people to give him time.

Not making the same mistake with Jones.

I totally agree with this. If Butch bounces like some are suggesting, the first call I make is to James Franklin and make him a huge offer. I think he would take it and wouldn't hesitate. The dude knows how to win!

Of course we'll find a way to f--- up any hire we have to make.

Seriously doubt he leaves. He's a Pennsylvania guy, and Penn St was essentially his dream job from what I've read.

Mullen would come here
Macintyre would come here
Taggart would come here
Miles would definitely come here, especially if his next best offer is Purdue (not feeling as good about this one today, though)

Don't think Franklin would. PSU will lock him up after this season, especially if he wins the Big 10.

good lord, here we go and it isn't even Monday yet-- now folks are making excuses of our performance, excuses for the coaches, and mentally preparing themselves for Butch staying another year... you guys have already moved on to looking at who we have at what position.... Geez that was quick!
This guy left his team in the presser last night. Left his team. If there was not already friction on the locker room before, don't think it won't be now. These kids will NOT play for a leader who runs and throws them under the bus.
yeah man, I can't believe he did that. Hats off to josh dobbs , that kid gave it his all. Never under any circumstances should the HC run and start the presser before anyone shows up, and leaves his players to answer the questions. Lame

Just to be clear I am not done with Butch nor have I ever been.

I am done with the defensive staff as it is. Either fire Shoop or let him hire his guys. I am fine with the rest of the staff staying the same. If We get a new OL coach I would be ok with that but I want the rest of the offensive staff to stay.

WOW! So you have no problem with a head coach getting his ass handed to him after a horrible game and time management display against a weaker opponent with the Sugar Bowl on the line (in his 4th year) and then instead of owning up to his faults, he literally sneaks out the back door and into the night, letting his seniors sit and take the heat in front of the media for his mistakes and shortcomings?

I argued vehemently with him at the time, but I'm starting to believe LWS was right a few years ago when he said we will NEVER be consistently relevant again. Losing to stinking Vanderbilt four times in this decade is unbearable. There is no excuse whatsoever for it. We are among the dregs of the SEC...Thanks Butch! And it is not getting better any time in the foreseeable future. We are trapped into a lame duck fraud, and have a bunch of third rate, cheap birthday clowns of a BOT, that will hire some Mike Hamilton type Bozo who will finish the obliteration of the UT football program...Peace out VolNation.

Sure I have a problem with last night. I just think the good he has done rebuilding this program gets him some room to correct his issues

The presser doesn't bother me at all. The media stopped asking questions so he was done is the way I understand it. I don't pay one bit of attention to what he does with the media. None of that matters to me. I have learned not to even listen

Vols have never been consistently relevant. We have up decades and down decades. Been that way forever. But yeah...I doubt we ever see the success of the 90s again. We had "dominance" under Neyland and again under Fulmer. Both briefly. The program is consistently good on a long enough timeline, never consistently great.

The media stopped asking questions because he rushed straight to the press room and got out before the majority of the media had time to get there. Left his seniors to field the brunt. No one should be OK with that.

I'll just root for Tennessee but Butch Jones is DEAD to me as a coach. He's all sauce and no sandwich.

I'll always be a Vol. I will never root for another team. But I am resigned to always getting gut punched, and having my heart ripped out every season now. I just can't believe anything good is going to ever go our way anymore.

Any time you score more than 30 points and lose, defense was the problem.

And we started out nicely. We came into the game in a base 4-3 unlike the previous two games where we got gashed. We slowed their run game a bit, took a two touchdown lead and then went cover zero man almost every play. Like wtf!!?!??

And to not adjust the entire night was insanity.

The QB looked like dan Marino throwing in pass skel drills.

No safety help, no LB drops. No zone, no rolling coverage. I literally couldn't believe what I was watching

We got out coached by the entire Vandy staff. HORRIBLY.

We blew 2 double digit leads.

And yes we can blame offense a bunch. Not only 2nd half turnovers but we only scored 3 points. THREE POINTS!!!!

Heck no on Franklin. Would take any of the others. I'd call Kelly first, if he said no, I'd go to Mullen

Stop believing all you hear from the media. It's the same bunch that blew up the champion of life quotes completely out of context.

It isn't the coaches job to wait on the damn media after games. They need to be where they are supposed to be instead of eating hot dogs for free. They disgust me with how they are searching for click bait with butch lately. It's why I don't give a damn what happens in his pressers.

THe players always follow the head coach anyways.

So for me....with the realization ***** is gonna be here.

Bye Mahoney, Deboard (I think he retires and could live if he stayed).

Hire OC who can be QB coach and a OL coach. Rich Rod, Matt Canada, ect.

Bye Martinez and Thig.

Bring in Shoop guys on defense.

Decide if you want to keep Z, Scott. If you lose them, hire a QB coach and a WR coach. No TE coach.

That's my concern as well. We will continue to be mediocre until they pony up. Stop messing around, hire Blackburn and get out of the freaking way.

Umm..We are 10th or 11th all time in wins. We've been pretty good for a looooong time. The 80s were up and down, but we were relevant several of those years.

Why did Griffin get pulled for TKjr?

Why were we blitzing and Barnett got to the QB on a 3 man rush?

This here is flat out STUPID now!

It's frustrating. We have the resources and facilities to be top 10 every year but we refuse to pay for real elite coaches. Makes no sense.

How many schools just simply go and hire "real elite coaches"? Let's start with everyone's favorite trio...Saban,Meyer and Harbaugh. Each one of their respective hires was the result of failure. Saban was actually a last minute recovery from Rich Rodriguez reneging to stay at West Virginia. Saban's availability was the result of his poor choice of Daunte Culpepper over Drew Brees. Pick the right franchise QB and Saban may still be in the NFL and which Mike Price,Mike Dubose or Mike Shula upgrade would've been "elite"? Meyer's availability for Ohio State was the result of HIS failure to recruit for the eventuality of Tim Tebow's graduation. He had a bunch of 5 stars that didn't fit and wasn't willing to dent his "elite" status for the necessary reconfiguration...so his heart "went to shizz" and he bailed right as Jim Tressell lost control of the machine in Columbus. Political correct pause for one year with ESPN and "suddenly" Ohio State simply was willing "to pay for an elite coach". Tailor made (actually manufactured) situation right there, so question...which "elite coach" would Ohio State have snapped up if the two aforementioned failures hadn't occurred? I'll finish with Harbaugh and Michigan. Willing to "pay elite coaches" as they were, why hadn't they? Rodriguez was on the fast track for that status but not there yet...Michigan jumped the gun because? Lloyd Carr FAILED against Appy State and the fans VNed him...creating an instant demand. That elite coach eluded them until the brain trust of the 49ers bristled at the caustic manner of their highly successful coach and made him available (to his alma mater or he'd have snapped up another NFL gig, easily).

They're called "elite coaches" because they're the select best. They're also not generally available to JUST HIRE. Every one of them started out as struggling ole regular coaches and DEVELOPED elite status. The usual route to land one is to hire them when they ain't and let them get that badge. Texas just did that with Herman. Sorry for the tldr, but I couldn't trash your simple point with fewer words Cat. :)

Move Tyler Byrd to defense and maybe JJ if safeties don't step up. Move Evan Berry to offense and consider Todd Kelly Jr at LB unless he wants to take weight off.
