Unfortunately, I think you're right. I think he will try to force admin's hand to fire him so that he will still get paid.

I know the defense was the major problem, but it was funny seeing our offense have a repeat performance of last year. Came out hot, opponent made halftime adjustments, the coaches had no idea how to counter. This hasn't been an issue this year because we've handcuffed ourselves so badly on offense that opponents never had to make halftime adjustments, but it appears that there's still no one on the offensive side of the ball who knows how to make changes in game.

Honestly, Shoop is more to blame than Butch (based on my visibility, which is just what I see on TV and read on the internet). This "defense" was historically bad--right up there with Sunseri.

Looking at the season's body of work on the whole, Butch is lucky he isn't sitting here 6-6 or even 5-7 right now.

App St and UGA should have been L's. Ohio or VT could have been an L.

I'd heard that he rushed in to get through questions before the local media made it in from the press box. He quickly went through questions of the few who were there, and it's not like they're going to hold him at the podium to wait on the rest to arrive. He knew exactly what he was doing, and it's a shame that he left the players to answer the questions he should have been there for.

Really feel like the powers that be will screw up the Blackburn hire and end up promoting Hart's right hand man.

He talks about always being prepared and he likes to control the narrative. It's hard to think he did not know what he was doing.

From what I've heard Blackburn is out, at least right now. Very little chance Hart's buddy gets it. I'm hearing they'll go outside the UT system.

Something interesting that was brought up earlier--- Penn St seems to be doing just fine on D without Shoop. Shoop supposedly help recruit and knows the tendencies of a ton of players on the Vandy team, yet couldn't dial up anything to stop them.
I don't think Butch is gonna be able to live down bailing on the kids last night at the presser. If there was any friction in the locker room before this, Butch definitely did permanent damage by throwing them under the bus. If I am a player, nothing you can tell me from this point on will change my opinion of you. You are the captain of the ship, swimming in $$, and you dove off the back of the boat when it sprung a leak and left the crew to fix it.
It was clear by the second half that part of the team was still invested in the game and others were not. That was the most pathetic performance of a secondary I believe I have ever seen that had that much talent. Reminded me of the Dooley Vandy game where you could tell players had checked out.
Don't know what will happen, but there are coaches out there who would still want to come here.
I know he has been underperforming, but how do you think Strong would do here? He hasn't been mentioned. I know he turned us down once and has not done well, but maybe he is one of those coaches who truly learns from his mistakes and would try and bring as much talent on the staff as possible? He certainly would at least be a step up from the media robot we currently have and fans and players would gravitate towards his honesty and how real of a person he is. Remember the players at TX loved him and talked about boycotting the game in order to try and save him.
