Don't think Butch is leaving anytime soon, but if he was, McIntyre is probably the best and realistic option

I don't want to act like Butch accomplished nothing here. We won some big games, got the roster back to respectability, had really fun NSDs, and ended an excuxiating streak against one of our hated rivals.

But bottom line, everyone knew this was his make or break year. And love him or hate him, he broke.

I've grown accustomed to being underwhelmed with hires. While I agree with your line of thinking, I've seen how this story ends a couple of times.

No buyout will be appealing. Not saying Strong would be a choice but guaranteed it's discussed.

I've forgotten more reasons to lose faith in Jones than I have constructive things to say about him.

Despite all that, I was still going to be pretty satisfied with the season if we won today and got that Sugar Bowl bid.

And now here I am hoping he gets fired.

I think what happened is I tried to convince myself to be reasonable and not trust my instincts that the guy stunk based on the mountain of piling evidence.

But whatever, I'm full nega-Vol again

Vol fans were just looking for a coach to believe in again. If you look past the surface though, there's just a lot that doesn't add up with Butch.

Yep. It has gotten divisive so they'll go outside and hire a guy with no ties to UT to avoid pissing off Blackburn and Gilbert backers. They'll keep Gilbert in some capacity and create an ambassador/fundraiser role for Fulmer to placate those who want Tennessee people in positions of leadership. They'll continue to loop in Peyton in an advisory capacity, soliciting his opinion then ignoring it. UT's a hot mess.

Hell I was told Jimbo Fisher flirted with us when we got Lyle. Granted it got him some new facilities but he showed interest.

Other than recruiting, the issue now is no quality position coaches or coordinators will consider UT as Butch is done. He may be here another year, but they would more less be inking a 1 year deal. I mentioned it a few weeks back and after tonight's loss it's even more of an issue. Our program is in trouble.

Our program has been in varying degrees of trouble for a while now. And it sounds like it starts w/ the BOT itself.

I'd be hesitant to jump on McIntyre. He is doing great things at Colorado this season but there is one thing to question. Is it McIntyre or is it Leavitt? Leavitt came on as DC last year and has them playing some great defense. He was highly successful at S.florida before he choking incident. That was a huge move for McIntyre last year

I wouldn't be completely satisfied but I'd take Les with Charlie at D coordinator. There's no realistic homerun hire this time around. Hell, look what LSU just did.

Tennessee needs a miracle. Perhaps Peyton can help. Not as a coach, he's too wealthy. But maybe he can help the program find someone. We need to hire a real seasoned coach that knows how to coach in-game, not just a recruiter and cliche-speaking mannequin.

I think Shoop will flee ASAP. Probably Z, too.

Look for CBJ to get a raise and extension next week. Because Tennessee.

What a mess of a season. I see Butch coaching another year unless he leaves of his own free will. I was solidly in his camp until this game. Beat Vandy and go to the Sugar bowl. But lose? Recruiting just got harder as did his ability to win.
