Remember that moment when you knew Dooley was never gonna succeed? I call it the Dooley moment. I just had my Dooley moment with Butch. Question is, how low must it go before something changes?

I had mine tonight also. No excuse for the kind of play we saw tonight, The problem is Butch isn't going anywhere and if he did who is available that good enough to turn this program around?

The latter. He lashed out at the fans for booing him and has been very defensive about his performance in pressers. LWS, Callahan, Brice and others have said that CBJ is unhappy with the criticism-- a lot of which has been media-fueled. He's going to get much, much more of it now.

IMO he lost the media when he tried to own them. That didn't work out.

Do you really think he leaves on his own accord? I just don't see UT and Butch parting ways in any way, shape, or form happening until next year.

This response was if butch may bolt after this year

Yes. Not sure where he would go but he's got the look and sound of a man who's ready to get out. I wouldn't rule out a move to any power 5 school. I'm not sure Houston wants a Butch type coach. That job takes a different personality than the one possessed by Butch to be successful.

Had to deal with family business and couldn't watch the game. Can someone who is sane tell me what happened?

I think if we had Blackburn here, we could work something out. We could waive part of the buyout or do installments to make it work. And CBJ could take a backloaded deal, with less upfront and built-in escalators. But I've thought for weeks that he's not as marketable as some think, and his value just took a hit. The odds of ND or Houston hiring him are zero, IMO. He would have to go somewhere like Purdue and take a pay cut.

Gashed Vandy up the middle in the first quarter to a 21-7 lead. Gaulden dropped a TD that really should have made it 28-0.

DeBord obviously thought we needed to pass every down. Allowed Vandy to get back into the game before the half.

Anemic offense in the 3rd.

Defense couldn't stop any of us on this site. Pathetic performance.

Down 11 with 1:39 on 4th and 4 Butch decides to go for it. We were well in FG range. Didn't get it.

Completely outcoached by Vandy.

Our Defense was as embarrassing as you could possibly imagine. Our DB"S could play for slippery rock college the way they played tonight. Cam can forget about the NFL cause he got abused by Vandy;s WR.

On the positive side, at least we won't have to watch a Big 12 team put up 130 points on this defense in the Sugar Bowl.

If CBJ is unhappy with the criticism, I just don't see how he can stay and be effective. It would be miserable on both sides. Dooley was fired for losing to Vandy and CBJ is the only coach since the early 1900s to lose to Vandy twice-- after losing to SCAR, giving away the SECE, then choking away a Sugar Bowl bid. Having a lame duck coach would set us back.

There was a point when I thought injuries were the whole reason of defense why we sucked.

Then I rewatched Ohio, Appy State, UK, and Missouri. And now this. We have MUCH bigger problems than just injuries.

This is someone inside the program
can't offer any hope. No matter what changes he says he's willing to make, his actions speak much louder. Worst end of game management I've seen in 20 years and then won't even face the media. Even if he's here next year, he's done. He's being ridiculed by every media outlet in a very overt way. Tennessee football is in a bad way in national perception and in reality. Just a really bad deal for us right now.

This is very telling. Also the quote about him looking like a man who has one foot out the door.

HE GON

Don't see how he stays at this point. If he does, this offseason will be absolutely miserable, and I'm sure recruiting will tank.

Butch is obsessed with his image. He would rather leave money on the table than stick around as a lame duck with a new AD and ultimately get fired.

We would be the mean old Fans who run off wonderful people like Cuonzo and Butch.

The truth is everyone is getting better-- Kentucky and Vandy's coach, and we are losing our best players. Butch's recruiting has went down and he doesn't coach players up.

It would make it almost impossible to lure away quality assistants from other programs with a lame duck coach. If he believes he needs to upgrade his staff. 😕
