Charlie Strong said "they accomplished the primary goal of developing young men". It wasn't a bad line in context but I wonder how many members of the national media are gonna run with that?

Sounds a lot like CoL...just not as corny.

Sc will be the trendy pick. They return pretty much everyone

It will probably be:

1. Georgia
2. Florida
3. Tennessee
4. South Carolina
5. Kentucky
6. Vanderbilt
7. Missouri

Or swap 3-4. But I think we'll be a surprise team next year. Folks will slide us back due to losing some good players.

There was a national analyst on the radio last night, can't recall who, that thought Houston would definitely promote from within. He said the school wants to keep the culture going and he thought Applewhite would get it.

I hope were picked 4th, alot easier to play without all the expectations

Says the same thing as Champions of Life without the panache...they've already fed this week. :)

This is where I'm at.

Or Todd Orlando. Either one would let the other stay as coordinator.

We return A LOT. Media will also see 8 starters back on offense and 7-8 back on defense. Both kickers.

Either way, fan expectations should be high.

Surely they would know we played most of the year without JRM and Sutton, along with Hurd.

Some will... Most won't. Guys like Phil Steele do their homework. The rest just look at the W/L records and the overall perception of the team and make a quick, lazy call on the pecking order.

I think we will be better next year barring injury. If JG or QD are for real the offense may average 40 a game. There is no way the defense has the same number of apocalyptic injuries. The schedule is much more favorable with how the tough games are more spread out. We may not be the preseason pick, but I think we win it. UF will still have a crap offense and a much worse D, Smart looks over his head.

We will have a lot of depth. Fewer difference makers to start the season but depth everywhere. Need guys to take big steps at CB, though. That's my biggest worry for next year.

I'm sold on Kelly as a premier back. Malone and Jennings best 1-2 we've had in awhile. 7 of 8 top OL return. Wolf back. Whoever wins the QB job has a lot to work with.

I think if QD, SJ or JG come in and give us a nice mix, we'll be a tough out for everyone not named Bama.

Good point about dealing with player malcontents being more difficult to deal with than we understand. I think with Hurd they were in a tough situation because the team needed him so badly in 2015 (even more so in 2014) that they had to try to cater to him in some ways that came back to bite them later. It's easy to say they should have managed it better, but we probably miss a bowl game in 2014 without Hurd and not recruiting him would've been a bad look too.

As for Urban, the only really "bad" loss he's had the past few years is to VT. And they won a championship that season. The only loss in 2015 came to a playoff team and PSU is a bad look, but if OSU wins today they're likely in the playoffs. And that's in a year OSU was supposed to be rebuilding after losing a record number of players to the NFL draft.

Really there's no comparison between what he's done and what Butch has done. Butch has as many losses this season as Urban has had since 2014 to this point.

Edit: I don't mean that last point to be a knock on Butch, really. Meyer's just one of the best two coaches in CFB right now. Very few coaches can compare to what he's doing.

Well in CFB it is all about having the best players. Urban and Saban have more, better players every year than everybody else. I have always believed Urbans shine would have taken a big hit at UF if he had stayed. He knew it was coming and bolted to an easier job...That is why I think his legend is a fraud. I would like to see how much better he and Saban would be than anybody else on a even playing field over time. They would win some, but the would lose some too. Their are really very few innovative geniuses in sports, and most of them aren't good/lucky game day coaches.

DL for days too. Philips and Kongbo should be able to slide back to DE.

Vickers, KMack, Tuttle, Johnson, Picou, Mosley, Butcher, and all the freshmen at DT.

Taylor, Smith, Kongbo, Mixon, Phillips at DE.

I agree that there are likely many factors that went into his decision. Ultimately, it might just mean that Texas was willing to break the bank even more than LSU.

I hope that Herman totally crashes and burns at Texas..just for the lulz..it would be hilarious to see them waste that much money.
