I had hoped Herman to LSU.

Has been really fun watching the horror show that has been Strong Texas football for the last 3 years.
longhorns have been badmouthing our Volunteers for years, so now I just ask how the longhorns are doing and smile...then laugh

Some of the LSU media is saying Ed O getting the job was contingent on bringing Kiffin as OC.

I doubt the Kiffin OC thing would be announced...he's got at least 3 more games at Bama.

Two anyones apparently turned em down in Fisher and Herman. If you buy our LSU poster LSU-SIU's post that LSU had a deadline for Herman to decide, they put a little pressure on theirselves. Herman was going to attend that meeting with Texas. This smacks of saving face.

It could. The SEC is a meat grinder.

It could also mean the pockets are deeper. That place is loaded with cash. IMO it will be easier to dominate in the Big 12 than the SEC. He already has the recruiting pipeline built there. He knows how to coach uptempo. Just need to recruit enough top D players to slow the opponents enough to outscore them.

I agree that there are likely many factors that went into his decision. Ultimately, it might just mean that Texas was willing to break the bank even more than LSU.

People always say this even with a mountain of evidence to the contrary. They couldn't, can't, didn't, won't be able to hire whoever they want.

There are exactly 3 schools currently who got slam dunk coaching hires

And Michigan and bama both made some bad hires before lucking into their current coach

Usually all these top names come out and it just doesn't happen

O has never been smart enough to be a Coordinator and is now the head football coach. I mean wow

Silver lining is that texas has to pay Strong double what Tennessee had to pay dooley...
So texas doubles Tennessee payout for same production from a dooley level performance from coach Strong ...

He has so many ties in SEC land he would be a huge recruiting get. And I think he is a top 5 college DC

I'd think about firing CBS for him honestly.

Charlie needs to really just hang out a year and get some of that buyout money...Sheesch, something like ten million. I'd relax and take a year off
