To be fair, it has a lot to do with the number of recruits we have committed. If our class were to stay the same, we'd drop quite a bit when other teams fill out their classes. I don't expect our class to stay the way it is right now though.
UF loses a lot but may still get the nod over us. UGA will be clear #1 because of their young talent this year.
I think the production we lose on offense and defense will paint 2017 as a rebuilding year in the media. Not having a QB established hurts too.
Also affecting the TFL stat, teams are running AT Garrett and AWAY from Barnett.Doesn't have ABS because there's nothing that puts the brakes on this beast.
Here's another mind blowing stat:
Garrett has 48.5 TFLs, 23.5 coming in SEC play.
Clowney had 47 TFLs, 29 in the SEC play.
Barnett has 49.5 TFLs, 41 from the SEC!
Good point about dealing with player malcontents being more difficult to deal with than we understand. I think with Hurd they were in a tough situation because the team needed him so badly in 2015 (even more so in 2014) that they had to try to cater to him in some ways that came back to bite them later. It's easy to say they should have managed it better, but we probably miss a bowl game in 2014 without Hurd and not recruiting him would've been a bad look too.Actually I agree with you..I meant player malcontents, and I do think that is on Butch, but I think it is a lot more difficult problem to deal with than we understand. I hope he learned something from it, I really don't think he had any prior experience with dealing with prima donna types, and he handled it wrong this time. Urban has bad games, and relatively bad with much more LOADED teams and he gets a pass simply because he has won. If Butch will learn, he could win too.
Butch Jones coached at Cincinnati for 3 years and Central Michigan for 3 years. He won a total of 0 ranked games in those 6 years. He went 50-27
Tom Herman coached at Houston for 2 years. He has won a total of 6 ranked games in those 2 years. He went 22-4
As usual, off and goofy negative....
I do agree that Herman is good and potentially very good...
Quality of players and team he inherited at UH much, much better than teams CBJ has inherited at central Michigan, Cincinnati and Tennessee by far.
But please continue your negative dogma of all things Tennessee.
