Or he'd have sucked? :dunno: He needed a break and took one for a year...wouldn't have been afforded that here.

He's too accurate to "suck". He was ahead of Dobbs as true freshmen, but you're right as far as maturity wise when he was here. I'm just saying plug him in right now as a RS Jr and he'd do very well with what we do.

Idk if he would have been good with Mahoney here.

Probably would be on the IR right now

The disappearing act has existed since day 1 for Garret though. If I remember correctly, only like 6 of his sacks over his career came in SEC play.

When Garret goes up against a good OT/ line, he gets down on himself or acts pissy. When Barnet goes up against a good OT/ line, he plays at an even higher level so that he can dominate them.

Yes.

If he'd have stayed, he'd have one year to play and it would be a Jalen Hurd situation X3 IMO. How it would have affected the JG recruitment curbs any fond revisionist history I may entertain.

So I guess next years offense will look a lot like Memphis with Ferguson having Dormady at QB for us. They look pretty similar throwing the ball.

I agree to an extent, it definitely didn't help that the receiver bent down a bit. Kind of how I felt about JRMs targeting against App State. Just doesn't seem right to be kicked out when the receiver or whoever lowers their head and body for the impact. On the flip side you have to remember to not lead the with the crown regardless. If he lifts his head up and wrapped like did I'm not sure he gets the targeting.

Yup. This game was a recipe for disaster

Right.. like what are the Houstons players thinking? "Well there goes coach." Announcer made a comment a bit ago about the stud 5 star DT that Houston has wasn't making an impact this game. Shoot, the kids probably thinking about his coach leaving.

Barrett Sallee did an entire segment on a podcast about Butch's "COL" comment and didn't even refer to the context. He actually said it was in response to a question about not winning the east. At least listen to what he said Barrett so that you don't respond with such ignorance

Give him more than two years building a roster before comparing him to a guy with over 10 years of top classes.

No sure things with these coaches is my point. He could be great or he may fall flat on his face. Most fall on their face If the only acceptable bar is to be a top five coach.

I knew what you were saying, but in this world (and message board) of the "they have something pretty! Buy it for me" mindset, too many lose sight that ALL of the great coaches were "unproven risks" at some point. Usually by the time they're PROVEN, they ain't moving! Gary Patterson was hirable at some point...this fanbase would have called him a mid-major hire...because he was. You can't be a top five coach until you get hired and perform as a top five coach.

Have you never been exposed to media before? Lol. That's pretty standard response to a comment like that.

If any of our rival coaches made that comment you think we'd be intelligently discussing the context on here?
