Yes, but I will be pulling for them to hang about 60 on the Gators.

Me too... and I will hate every moment of it.

Like that time I reset my dislocated wrist after a vicious tackle. Hurt like crap, but no one else was going to do it for me, so I did what was necessary... like ye olde boss.

Let's look at Clemson - lost to Pitt.

Let's look at Michigna - lost to Iowa.

You could even lump in Ohio State's loss to Penn State.

Those are 3 of the current playoff teams with losses to teams the caliber of SCAR. And a difference between them and us is they were playing with far fewer injuries.

Basically **** happens.

You miss a very important point, we lost to USCe after losing to two other teams. USCe was a must win game after losing two already. Once again, that is if we want to be seen as a championship level program again. If we would have won that game, things would be dramatically different right now. We would be ranked in the top 6, heading to Atlanta as the SEC east champion, with basically a play in game for the national championship playoffs. Yes, that one loss meant that much. Not by itself, but when taken into context with the rest of the season.

with our injuries we were/are not a playoff team.

Not much.

Those other three teams/coaches have proven themselves much more. Benefit, doubt, and whatnot.

Clemson Michigan Ohio state - how many times you take TN over them out of 10.

You're willing to excuse their losses to lower teams because the teams you lost to are 7/10 better than SCe.

How much better than TN are the teams losing the games though?

Completely agree, but that is not how we would have been seen, especially after the last few blowouts we have had. We would have been on an upward trajectory, especially with all of the other teams losing that were ranked ahead of us.

I'm on OG, Ron Swanson, et al side of this argument, but I think you hit the nail on the head with Butch is thin skinned.

The biggest difference between Butch and Saban (not the ONLY) is Nick doesn't care what anyone thinks of him. Including his wife, kids and mother.

Yeah, I'm ruthless. I'll lay a joker down for nothing at all

If memory serves, that year was a lot like this one. Lost 2 games to a very good Auburn team and got beat at home by a pretty crappy Notre Dame.

That loss to ND hurt in more ways than one. We lost Ainge for the year in that game and, in my opinion, may have cost us a great deal in 2005 because the team was divided on who should be starting at QB.

Some Vol media sources have very vague, "Butch may be a little unhappy" quotes out there.

Everyone has now lost their minds.

I think the quotes are just floating his name a little to get a better raise, and not a genuine desire to leave.

The rest of those 9 pages is a waste of time.

Gotcha, thanks Nick!

Haven't seen his quotes, but I can't blame the guy if the pressure does get to him. Rome wasn't built in a day, and the way the majority of the fan base is acting, they expect it to be from the ruble that Kiffin and Dooley left!!
Hope he sits down and realizes how good he will have it here with a couple of key changes, and just enjoy the ride, and learn to take the idiot fan base with a grain of salt!! A coaching change right now is the last thing we need being on the brink of being back!!

This is just a silly comment. You absolutely should be excited about getting one of the top 6 bowl games in the country

That's the problem that some of us are having right now. Yes the playoff is the goal but if we don't get there that doesn't mean the season is a complete failure.

That was NOT his point. He said we had no business losing to SC. Had nothing to do with anything else about our season. I pointed out that good teams have bad games.

And for those saying our loss is worse,

Clemson was a 20.5 point favorite over Pitt.
Michigan was a 21 point favorite over Iowa.
Ohio State was an 18 point favorite over Penn State.
We were a 15 point favorite.

How again is our loss much worse? I'm not saying we shouldn't have won the game. I'm saying that teams don't always play to their potential - good teams. And sometimes bad teams exceed their potential.

Shore up the linebackers and bring in a strong RB class, A. Johnson and Kongbo emerge on the D Line. The Vols are sitting pretty for 2017.

This part concerns me. Tuttle and KMac should be solid, if they are healthy, but we have no evidence on Johnson and precious little on Kongbo.

Not sure why people are so excited about a NY6 bowl. Don't you realize those mean much less now with the CFP?

They mean less, than they did before, but they are still the best bowls left after the CFP. If you're underwhelmed, it is understandable, but these bowls still have prestige.

And instead we're worried about what some AM radio hacks in Arkansas say and about what gets put on Wikipedia. This is insane.

Nah, I don't think anyone is worried about either of those things. I posted the Wikipedia quote because I thought it was kinda funny, kinda sad at the same time. I guess I just have a weird sense of humor.

After we lose the SEC East, CBJ tosses the media a softball & then is shocked & disappointed when it gets hit out of the park. I just think he needs somebody more in tune with the fans to write his speeches.
