I honestly hate 90% of our fanbase. Sometimes it's shameful to be lumped in with some of the idiots that make it up. I know every team has some but I feel like the percentage for our's is somehow much higher.

I agree with the idea that Butch should put his head down and grind and don't even talk about raises/extensions/etc. I hear a lot of BS in press conferences, things like "you never heard me talk about winning the east," then in the next press conference he states championships are the expectation. (Even if the definition of championship gets blurry in the same press conference.)

In most jobs, you get a raise if you meet/exceed expectations. You keep your job if you earned enough trust in the past for your boss to think you can do better. I think Butch should keep his job, but, for myriad reasons (injuries mostly), he failed to meet expectations, whether he likes it or wants to deny it or not.

That's perplexing to me too. I also think a lot of people don't realize how much he's getting paid. He's the 18th highest kid coach in CFB. 9th highest in the SEC.

In the Big Ten, he'd be the 6th highest paid coach.

In the Big 12, he'd be the 3rd highest paid (2nd once Strong is fired, but Herman should make bank anyway).

In the PAC 12, he'd be the highest paid coach.

In the ACC, he'd be the 3rd highest paid coach.

The top schools in all of those conferences have their guys set (unless Jimbo bolts to LSU). What "lateral moves" that open this year are going to pay a buyout to their current coach AND a $4 million buyout for Butch AND match the money he is getting now?

It could be a lateral move where a program has their coach hired away and receives a buyout from his departure.

Just a quick example..not suggesting this happens but its plausible...

LSU hires Justin Fuente paying his buyout which I'm sure is a few million. Va tech comes after Butch.

Someone could hire Larry Fedora away. That would be a step down for sure but Fedora leaving would mean UNC has money to spend from his buyout.

I could dream up a dozen scenarios like this.

This is year 4. Everybody knew this was our year that's why he got somewhat of a pass last year for pissing away OU, UF, & Arkansas games.

"Recruiting will just explode after we win the east"....well?

And we're losing Dobbs, Kamara, Weisman, Sutton, JRM, Barnett, Croom, Lewis, Vereen, Foreman...possibly Malone.

Probably looking at another 8 win season next year too. I think the lack of development from our OL will cost us games especially if Dormady is our QB. Not because he isn't good but Dobbs ability to break tackles & constantly escape pressure can't be underestimated.

News flash, we played without kamara, wiseman, Sutton, jrm, and foreman for a good chunk
Of the season. Not to mention our first 3 starting defensive tackles. And our other 2 starting linebackers.

Half you idiots hated dobbs anyways.

All that and we have a chance at 10 and the sugar bowl, so why would 8 be our ceiling next year?

Especially since dormady should have been put in like 10 times according to half of you.

You know that you are fluffing a coach who has done way worse compared to Butch, in a lot easier conference...you are nuts sometimes man.

No, he's actually correct. UL is at a higher level than UC football wise. Charlie helped restore it to Petrino levels and beyond. He was 11-2 with a Sugar Bowl win over UF. The next year he was 12-1. Butch has not yet achieve that level.

He wanted to try the elite stage. Texas was decimated roster wise, which is why Brown was let go. It was a bad fit. His recruiting, especially in Florida, took a hit; while aTm's was taking off due to Sumlin.

He would make a really good hire for a school in the south where he can crank up his recruiting sources again. I bet he's learned a few things, like Muschamp, and knows how he would adjust his system.

That's because you are reading forums like this everyday. Every program has fools that want the coach fired at the drop of the hat. It's a small % at every school.

Pretty much hit the nail on the head as far as why many have lost confidence in Butch (without necessarily wanting him gone).

Ya, people act like it's either or, you either want him fired or you think he's definitely the guy to take us to a title. You can be in the middle.

Those are about the only scenarios I can see happening.

And I'm still not sure any of the programs in that position will drop the money to pay Butch how he's being paid here.

Didn't you post in the game thread the other day that he should be fired? I'm pretty sure you did.
