Butch HAS to keep the team focused on winning...that is what he is trying to do. This season still has potential to end on a really good note. This fan base is 60% idiot. If they lose next week because they come out bummed out because they didn't win the east, then THAT would be a disaster. I get what he is doing. Everybody just wants to dump on the man..I wish he would just tell all of us to "Piss off, I've still got a big job to do, and save this season" Anybody that really believes he is not disappointed, is a freakin moran.

I wish I could like this a thousand times!

I don't see Debord going anywhere. We've averaged 56 the last 3. 700 yards against aTm. Dismantled UF in 2nd half. Not saying it's perfect, but far from broken.

LOL putting up numbers against Missouri UK TTU defenses are not going to save his job.

On chancellor hire...

"Speaking of the Chancellor, I won't be surprised if Ms. Davenport from Cincinnati is hired this coming week. Again, she was back in town on Friday and all signs point to her being the selection from the committee headed up by Charlie Anderson."

Seems like there is a lot of "protection" and sympathy for Charlie Strong from the media and even CFB fans in general. Seeing a lot of "he's a great coach, just didn't fit at Texas" statements despite failing during his 3-year stint in Austin.

Meanwhile, Butch is actually succeeding in Knoxville (not overwhelmingly, of course) and the consensus is that he's anywhere from mediocre to horrible.

I'm a Butch guy but this year has been average. Winning the east would have made it above average. I realize we had injuries but all we had to do was beat a bad SC team and we couldn't. He gets a B from me.

Charlie Strong, former LB coach

I was thinking about that. Would love to bring him in at LB with intent to promote him to DC when Shoop moves on. Probably an unreasonable hope though - somebody else will give Strong another shot at HC in all likelihood.

C, for having his team come out flat almost, if not literally, every single game.

I thought you were implying that A&M would move ahead of us in the CFP rankings.

Nope. But I wouldn't be surprised to see aTm move up more spots than us. UF will probably leapfrog to a spot just outside the Top 10. UT drops quickly, but rises slowly this season.

It's gotta be a personality thing with Butch. He's just not a very likeable guy when he's spouting off cliches 24/7 and never going off script. I think it's hard for many people, even in our own fanbase, to truly root for him because of that. I don't know much about Charlie Strong, but apparently he's a very genuine guy. So much so that people thought he wouldn't be able to handle all the schmoozing required to be the Texas head coach.

Media bias on display. I don't know why, but everything about TN is always negative

You can have a bad personality if you win. Saban is a douche but he gets things done. If you're not likable AND you don't get things done, you don't belong in big boy football.

Butch seems to be edging closer to the latter.

I like Terry, but don't know if he is a good coach

Very good position coach and was involved in teaching technique. We have regressed tremendously since he left. I mentioned how we should get him back after his first year gone and was laughed at by most. Now, you want him back. Glad you guys came around and figured it out.

I would like us to bring him back and besides Strip, let BS bring whomever he wants. Keep DeBoard and hire a QB coach while replacing Mahoney. If you can make a big OC hire then do it but just like we saw with BS and other first year coordinators, it is difficult in the first year adjustment with a new DC or OC. As much as i have yelled while at Neyland to DeBoard, he has me thinking one more year with continuity may be best. We do not need Stoops to leave.
