Good point. The florida DC found a way to overcome losing his main horses.

We've lost at least 3 out of our best 4 DT's and been without 3 or more of our best 4 linebackers for most of the year (I still don't think Kirkland is 100%). Those are some big licks to anyone's run defense. People suggesting that Florida's injury situation is anywhere near the level that ours has been is simply out of touch with reality.

3 of 4 and all the remaining ones. We have DEs playing a large amount of snaps.

Barnett doesn't seem to be effecting the game as much lately because of all the rushing yards

Any shot he gets moved inside for 10 or so snaps against Vandy which we know is going to run a lot?

I don't think anyone is debating that our defense should be better. I said in another thread there's absolutely no excuse for giving up almost 1400 yards to Kentucky and Missouri.

I'm not trying to make excuses, but Shoop at least has a case. 1st year installing his system + doing it with another DC's position coaches + unprecedented injuries at DT and LB (all over the defense actually) + a KY offense that has run well on everyone they've played this year + MO having the #2 offense in SEC behind only Bama. I mean it's not like having your OL getting manhandled by an Appalachian State DL that you outweigh by 50 lbs a man in game 1 of the season.

Was listening to the college station on XM this morning. Said that teams who rush for 400 yards were 30-0 this season before the last two weeks.

Do you really not understand how important the DTs are in every defensive scheme? We only have Vickers left and he is our under tackle so he only weighs like 285 pounds. To have a working 4-3 defense, you need both your under and nose tackles so that the one can absorb blocks and the other can make plays. With our injury situation, we are able to get zero pressure up the middle, guards are able to release to our LBs, and then the RB doesn't get touched until 7 yards downfield.

The fact that everyone else in D except for Barnett is either still a little hurt or a backup only furthers the issue.

Don't be stupid Bruin, no matter how much your teenage girl emotions are screaming at you to be.

No, he doesn't understand the importance of true DTs in any defensive scheme. He thinks you can just trot any midsized body out there to do the job.

I don't think we get a Sugar invite.

Just don't see that happening. I have looked at all the scenarios and just don't see it.

Not with this team.

My bet is citrus 🍊

I would not be surprised at all if we win against Vandy. Then drop in the rankings.

While Florida loses to FSU and improves in the ranking and stays above us.

Because...

ESPN/Voters/Bruin/Catbone hates us

I watched part of the Vandy--Ole Miss game last night. That turf looks like a fast track and I kept thinking about who has the most speed----UT or Vandy? If our guys take bad angles on defense, it could be a really long night for us on that turf.

Do we play better on turf or grass fields? Hopefully, we will use some clock and score on long drives so our defense is not on the field for 40 minutes.

I would say UT's current chance of getting to the Sugar Bowl-- taken we beat Vandy-- is about 75%.

Auburn isn't going as they lose to Bama next week. Florida isn't going because they lose to Bama in the SEC Champ and maybe even FSU. LSU and TAMU are both rated behind us atm and I don't see them jumping us in the rankings independent of who wins.

I can see aTm being fired up and beating a demoralized LSU team. O blew his chance, no hope for the Sugar, the season's a disappointment and Fournette's probably done, so LSU could pack it in. aTm has more to play for.
