The defense looked terribly confused all night. Jumper was going crazy trying to line guys up correctly. I noticed several snaps where 2-3 players would be looking at each other or at Jumper as the ball was snapped trying to figure out what to do and where they should be.

By all accounts, Shoop is a smart dude. I hope he has some tricks up his sleeve. Honestly, I'm not unhappy Florida is playing Bama in the title game. The defensive coaches need time to regroup and maybe get healthy. They've got to figure out how td play better in the bowl game. The last thing we need is to face Lamar Jackson with this current defense.

They better get it together before next week or Vandy will take the air out of the ball. They will not go fast.

The East wasn't even in the question. From UTSports:

(On if the win tonight was bittersweet with the way other games played out)
"You never heard me talk about it. Never heard the players talk about it. Our goal is to be 1-0 every week, and what happens happens. Again, I'm not going to sit in here and complain. We just won eight games, and that hasn't been done here in a long time. We have an opportunity to win nine. Obviously we have strong expectations for this football program, but right now, I'm going to talk about the win and talk about our seniors and how far our football has come.

Not making excuses for anyone. Fact is we're out of any contention that requires style points. We just need to win 2 more games. I don't care if they are by a combined 2 points. Just win

I know people don't like hearing excuses, especially when we're giving up 400yds a game rushing, but Shoop has too good a resume to give up on him in his first season here under the sort of circumstances he's had to deal with. It's neither wise nor fair.

If these issues are still present after next season, provided we avoid becoming another MASH unit, I think the criticism is warranted.

It is rather frustrating, to put it mildly, that this is the first time since 2007 that Tennessee is entering the final game of the regular season with 8 wins.

That's what we've said about literally every Bowl game against Penn St, including the 92 Fiesta Bowl, the 94 Citrus Bowl and the 07 Outback Bowl.

Then they come out and wax us.

I'm glad our coaches and players don't talk about achieving things and playing for championships.

And thanks Butch for the 8 wins... it hasn't been done in a long time... we really appreciate that. Give the man an extension and raise.

Yep. I don't get the B1G hate. It's a way more entertaining and competitive conference than the 1 team SEC conference.

But I'm sure when Alabama wins it all, we'll raise our fists and cheer "SEC, SEC" and talk about "our" conference's dominance.

Morning fellas. Nice win last night. Played about just about how I thought it would. Another fun one to watch for some of us. For others...

It's a shame LSU bent over backwards to let Florida win. Really incredible. We all wanted to win the East, no doubt. If you choose to not accept the silver lining that we will not be slayed in horrific fashion by Bama, then that is up to you. Furthermore, I'll take the trajectory of Tennessee over Florida, hands down. This team has had to battle through the worst injuries I have ever seen, and should come out of the regular season with 9 wins, including ones over FL & UGA.

Thoughts on the game:

1. This offense has become fun to watch again and our OL is quietly playing their best ball of the year.

2. Mizzou's tempo really gave us problems.

3. This defense is really struggling. Behind Vickers we have nothing at DT. Warrior is just not ready to play in the secondary. He is a ball in tall weeds when it comes to pass coverage.

4. Abernathy had his best game as a Vol.

5. Kongbo read the screen perfectly and then showed off his 5* athletism. Awesome play, one of the best the Vols have had all season.

6. Drew Lock doesn't impress me much - Shania Twain

7. Josh Smith has a serious hands problem. Would like to see his playing time dwindle down in favor of Byrd and Callaway.

8. AK and JK are an awesome duo. It's a damn shame the coaches didn't see until their hand was forced.

9. Josh Dobbs played Heisman level ball tonight. If tonight's performance could have been duplicated in columbia, SC be may be on the shortlist for NYC.

10. Dobbs, Barnett and Sutton will be sorely missed. These guys represent the very best about what it means to put on the big orange every week. Great Volunteers. We will look back at the "Dobbs Era" very fondly as time passes.

11. Beat Vandy and there is a good chance we go to the Sugar bowl. Florida has at least one more loss coming, probably 2 so we will stay ahead of them. Auburn has another loss coming. I don't see the LSU/A&M winner passing us if we take care of Vandy. SO JUST WIN BABY and let's be Sugar Vols again!
