The Big 10 has a couple rather good teams and the rest just aren't good. This makes the rather good teams look like the elite of the elite. Also, sometimes makes teams that barely hit the good qualification-- Northwestern last year and Penn St this year-- nearly top 10 overall teams.
In the SEC you have one amazing team, a good collection of rather good teams, and then some mediocre/alright teams. This sets it up so that the amazing team looks amazing and then the rest look worse than they actually are.
Look for the SEC to dominate this bowl season.
