The Georgia play was less lucky and required a little more skill than the Hail Mary but both needed both luck and skill.

The Georgia play could literally happen on any other deep pass play throughout the game if there is a lapse by the single defender.

It wasn't the last play. The entire defense wasn't lined up in the end-zone. It wasn't a jump ball with bodies all around.

Surely you can see the difference.

I see some difference, but it was a longshot, at best, when it was called. They were lucky that Foreman stopped and that holding was not called and that our safety was late coming over.

Odds were low for sure until foreman messed up. Still nothing compared to a last play jump ball with a crowd of players.

Yes, but should a lapse by a single defender decide the game with less than 20 seconds on the clock. How many 40+ yard game-winning passes do you see every week? Not many, because defenses guard against that stuff. We did not guard against it well enough and it was very costly. It is not the same as just any other old 49 yard TD pass, because it happened when it did.

Abernathy blew a coverage late in the game. But fans want to kill Warrior over a man coverage bust. Smh lol

Lol play wasn't even drawn up to JJ

The way Z described the play it was in his breakdown. JJ was the preferred option. Smith was there in front for any forward tip. Croom was in to box the defenders out where he took out 2-3 guys. Malone was back if it tipped backwards.

All that said that play was 60% luck and 40% execution. It really was one of the best executed Hail Marys to have JJ one on one. Any Hail Mary has some luck though

Coaches too. It's ridiculous. I could understand warrior not playing if our Safties were playing lights out. However I just watch our Safties miss huge tackles that lead to massive runs or they are late in coverage. Kelly needs to give serious thought to moving to LB. He has zero NFL future at Saftey. Too slow. Abernathy tackling needs work.

Tabor Slips- JJ burnt him

Foreman stops- lucky Hail Mary

Gotta love VN

I did not say it was a Hail Mary, but there was luck involved. And when JJ scored against UF, it was not with less than 20 seconds remaining. I will concede that our Hail Mary involved luck, maybe even more than Georgia's bomb, but there was some execution and play-making involved that was not lucky at all. That is my only point.

Maybe I need to see it again. I recall an outside release. Regardless, the Georgia play and ours aren't that comparable

Thank you. I think that this is the most reasonable post that I have read on it. My final point is that in the end, I don't really care how or why, I just care that it worked and we sent all those Dawg fans out of Sanford with dejected looks on their faces.

I don't understand why our fans care if it was luck or not. People won't care when they see our record for the season. Our program has been on the losing end of those type wild scenarios over the last 8 years that it was time for us to benefit. Plus, one of our own actually made a play. Luck is when preparedness meets opportunity.

If the ball was tipped around I would holler luck. They got MOSSED ON in the endzone. We had better players and did what we wanted to do. Nothing else to even discuss. They didn't even tip a jump ball. They should recruit better players on the back end.
