Thoughts on recruiting class?

Ok with it right now, but expecting better by NSD.

Thinking/hoping a 8-10 finish. would probably be ok with top 12-13 if we have some key positions filled nicely with some good depth thrown in.

Anything above 8 means CBJ has some things working that no one knows about IMO.

Curious how you think Kelly would have done against Appy St and Ohio?

Good against Ohio, not as quick of D. Struggle against Appy like Kamara. Appy's a good team with a quirky, quick D. Our whole O-line struggled against them.

I really like Kelly. He really worked hard in the off season in the S&C and fall camp. He's got it all inside his heart and head. His weakness, which is not bad, is his top end speed. He a lot like Kamara with the quickness, vision and moves - a little different style and a little more powerful.

Not sure you can take away much from Kamara's 6 carries against Appy St. Hurd had 28 carries, and averaged only 3.9 yards. I think Kelly would have done better, but I do understand your point on their D.

The O-Line was the failure against Appy St. We are extremely lucky to have pulled that one out.

I agree. Not much of a sample size. Think Butch/Debored got stuck on the power going against quickness angle. Part of it was the stubbornness to keep using the same single back pro set slow developing gap scheme instead of 2 back and pistol with more read option. That might have changed it for the better. The O-line simply was not ready for that quickness/D.

How come? Because they have teams ranked higher in polls? LOL.

South Carolina would smash Penn State and they currently ranked 8th.

Everyone in the West except Miss St would beat Wisconsin.

We would beat Michigan.

LSU would beat Ohio State.

The Big 10 is overrated this year. They are riding a wave based on PERCEPTION not reality. Once bowl season comes around they will be exposed like the SEC was in 2014 when we had 6 teams ranked in the top 10.

South Carolina would not smash Penn State and Tennessee is so poorly coached that Michigan would beat our brains in.

For sure. Chavis is right - that is a good football team. They get the most out of that roster.

Someone posted this in the previous thread and it was really misleading

It's basically a comparison of our RBs rushing yardage after contact as a percentage of their total yards where:
Hurd - 55%
Kamara - 40%
Jelly - 20%
And notes how much we missed the hard hitting quitter.

I read it the other way as a percentage of yards before contact, where:
Hurd - 45%
Kamara - 60%
Jelly - 80%

Couple that with their average yards per carry:
Hurd - 3.7 yards
Kamara - 6.0
Jelly - 7.3

Their actual yards before contact is:
Hurd - 1.67 yards
Kamara - 3.60
Jelly - 5.84

Our guys are eating up some yards before getting touched! Hitting the right holes and making some plays. I don't know if I missed the quitter that much!

For completeness, the actual yards after contact? Barely noticeable.
Hurd - 2.03 yards
Kamara - 2.40
Jelly - 1.46

Nice work.

Derek Barnett is the 1st player in @SEC HISTORY with 3 seasons of 10.0 or more sacks 🍊🏈
2016: 10.0
2015: 10.0
2014: 10.0

Go ahead Cleveland. Take Garrett first

Anyone hear anything on TK? I might have missed it but his injury looked like it might keep him out a while

first time hunting I got a 10 point back in 2006. it was luck.

we got sausage, ground, cube, strip and it was AWESOME. I had a big ass George Foreman in the dorms and a crock pot so we made it. Also brought my mom's freezer from home to keep it all frozen. Good stuff.

Pics or it didn't happen

This is the one I shot in 07. It was bittersweet because I knew instantly that it was likely the biggest deer I would ever kill.

Back around 2010 my uncle shot a 16 pointer on the family farm. It scored out as like 201 nontypical. On my old phone, I had pictures of the mount and even the field dress, but I don't have those photos any more. When I go home for the holidays I might snag a picture of it for on here.

Thoughts on recruiting class?

I love the defensive line commitments. I think we have a great receiver in Jordan Murphy, an elite, top of the pack running back in Chandler. I think we have some underrated guys like Labruzza, some high potential guys like Calbert. But definitely need to improve in some places, add Trey Smith, and some more talented players at other positions. Class definitely needs to upgrade but I think we have some good talent in this class
