so, only people with Vol or LadyVol or LV in their login are allowed to be critical of the team/coach/players, other wise they are UCONN FANS!!!@@#@##@# and must be banished from from the forums!! lol, you guys are entertaining.

I mean come on, straight up Lady Vol fans have been critical of Holly's offensive schemes(system), or lack there of, for years and you know it. But hey, as long as everyone is in their defensive stance and working hard for rebounds it going to be ok... Making the Elite Eight every year is good enough, isn't it? :good!:

That's not the point. Some fans only sole purpose to come here is to be negative and throw certain stuff up in our faces. We have eyes and we can see what is happening in regards to the program we cheer for. They know recruits read this board and they go all out to paint the most negative picture possible. If I came to your house and say well you need to do this or this looks terrible or why did you settle for this home or your house isn't up to standard. What would you do? Tell me that's your home and if I don't like it to take my a** on. It's one thing to discuss basketball, but it's another to be petty and try to dissect every little thing about Tennessee when you claim you don't care. I never claimed to advocate for Holly. Yes, she can continue to approve as a coach. But the way some people talk about her you would think she's the scum of the earth. Texas has more talent than Tennessee this season, but yet they did not look all that good last night or last season in my opinion. But I bet you UConn fans ain't ready to crucify Aston. They'll probably say she's a really good coach and we like where Texas is headed. Lol! A bunch of bull. It's some more stuff I want to say, but can't.

I think you should say it it's best not to hold things in. It's bad for your body & mind. I get what you are saying though. As an opposing fan some people take real offense to any talk about their coach on their forum.

There is nothing an opposing fan can say on this board about the coach that hasn't been said 100 times by their own fans but that doesn't mean you should say it. Leave that to the LV fans.

I do have a serious question though... you really think Texas is more talented than Tennessee this season? You mean as a whole, or in the post, or at the guard spot?

I have the Texas game as a win for the LV. I also have them beating Stanford. Curious why you feel they are more talented. Both made it to the E8 the past few years. Is it the performances in the E8 that make you feel that way or is it because they got Holmes this year?

First of all don't come at me like you are a therapist and I have a mental illness. As far as on paper, Texas does supposedly have more talent from top to bottom versus our roster. That is on paper. Their recruiting class was better than ours last season. They are ranked higher and supposedly to opposing fans have the better coach. I do think our starting 5 is better. Also, I been let go of the past and realized that Warlick is not and will never be Summitt. Yes, we are Tennessee and I realize that FF and Championships are our goals and is the standard, but 3 straight Elite 8 are nothing to be ashamed of.

Question for you?

Since Middleton is more than likely going to replace Nunn in the starting lineup tonight, do you use Diamond at the High Post or Nared?

I think Diamond would be more effective because she hits that Midrange jumper with more consistency than Nared. Just wondering?

Where did you hear Nunn wouldn't be starting? I hadn't heard or read that.

Where did you hear Nunn wouldn't be starting? I hadn't heard or read that.

Holly in her post game presser, she made it seem as though at least this game against ETSU that Middleton would start and Nunn could possibly return as a starter when we play a bigger team like Penn State. Quotes from Holly below;

(On Alexa Middleton's progress potential move to starting lineup)
"I think with Alexa, she just needed confidence. I think at times she was in and out last year of being injured and you know when you put in the time she has put in on things like the agility part, playing on balance, defending people, getting her shots, it gives you confidence and I think she did that. I hope, I always thought Alexa Middleton could be a difference maker for us and I've told her that and she knows how I feel about her, so hopefully she is seeing the result of my confidence in her and I'm going to put her in situations, I'm not going to jerk her in and out, I'm going to let her play through a turnover and she knows when `I've gone too far,' yea you did so let's fix it, so it's not a revolving door for Alexa. I'm going to let her play through some things and I just think it is confidence for her, I think she feels that I have confidence in her, the team, so when you know when people are behind you. I think you see the result of how good Alexa is playing."

(On Schaquilla Nunn coming off the bench)
"Yeah, I think Qui (Schaquilla Nunn), I'm not going to fault anything that Qui's doing, she's not getting a lot of minutes. She's having to pull away from the basket and guard a 5'8" kid, and she's never had to do that. So I think when we get in the meat of our season. I think Penn State, they got big kids Qui's success will be determined on the style of play we're playing against, and these last two games have not been really conducive to show what she what Qui can do. We've kind of taken her out of her element because we've needed to. Mercedes kind of has that under her belt because we've pulled her away from the basket and made her guard. Qui has never had to do that, so I think with time she'll be comfortable, but I think with certain games she's going to be very valuable for us."

Now why in the world would you think the Lady Vol forum would become hostile just because UConn fans are over here posting?

Thank you. Good information, I had not seen that.

I claim no special knowledge. With only Russell in the post, you can play more 4-out and 1-in, which I like a lot with this team. So I assume you'll see some of that.

Nunn could replace Russell and still run a 4-out 1-in.

If they run a traditional two post scheme with Nunn on the bench I assume you would see Nared at the high post, or maybe Dunbar if she is in. You can still play a 4-out 1-in with Dunbar. She is such a threat from behind the line having her at the high post might be a bit of a waste.

Hmmmmm. Maybe too new to the forum to understand. Get to know your posters before jumping to conclusions. Once you do, you should be able to separate Vol fans (negas and posas), posters from other teams (polite and impolite), and trolls.

No problem! I love the 4 out 1 in look as well. I also think it is for the best that we bring Nunn off the bench to spell Russell as well.

I want Middleton and MeMe to continue shooting and I also think it's a matter of time before Dunbar start hitting again. I think she has missed some time with her injury and is probably trying to get her legs and stuff back.

I hope Nared cuts the fouling out and settling for 3PT shots instead of attacking the rim. We need for her and Jordan to attack the zone as it opens up a lot of other opportunities for everyone else.

Russell should get her 3rd double double in a row.

Lastly just hope we come out and stomp on them and not play down to them. Let's get rid of them early so we could work on things that we haven't been able to so far yet.

Let's Go Lady Vols! Do work!

Understood and appreciate the clarification. But just remember, cultures vary, around here you can say things to your brother that you can't say to another guy :).

I did wonder about you at first, but overall you seem to be one of the "good guys" of other fans' posters.:hi:

If by system you mean an offense and a game plan, then Tennessee has one. The problem is is that Holly has never valued it enough to practice it to where the team executed very well in a game. If the first two games this season are any indication that has changed at least a little bit. The team looks better on offense this season than they have any of the last 2 years. But, yes, they have a system.

Its not the system, the players have all had about two or three years in her system.

It hasn't changed, the players have also invested in their game in the off season, which gives them confidence, and the main cogs weren't hurt.

Offense looked good to close out last year. ijs.

I agree. I thought Stanford lost too much from last year's team. I wasn't expecting them to be that good this year. And I am also surprised that Texas had so much trouble scoring.

Let's hope this trend continues through BIG XII play. :)

I have to say that this year the front loading of some really good ranked vs. ranked WCBB games is surprising and refreshing. Through the first week there have been about a dozen serious contests, and even the contests with ranked teams against others have included really good unranked teams. This is a very positive change in WCBB scheduling and I hope it continues and expands. TN (and Uconn) have always played good OOC schedules, but a lot of other good teams have done a disservice to the sport's growth by parading a series of 'sisters of mercy' kind of teams through their home court. That ESPN had to choose two out of four high quality contests on their opening Monday night line-up is great. And the games were good contests as well not just good on paper.

Haven't actually seen any of the TN games yet, but it seems from box scores that this year's edition is shooting the ball much better than recent years, and playing better as a team. While I love my Uconn, I think the sport will be better for TN being resurgent. (And congrats on changing the fortunes of your recruiting - serious talent coming in next year after all the 'woe' caused by the past year's misses.)
