Did I read that correctly: After about 15 years of having a mediocre, inefficient, often ugly offense, Warlick actually decided to reverse course this year and focus on the offense from the first practice and let the defense catch up? Coaches beginning to catch on....Astounding....
It kills me on how many coaches we have on this Forum. I bet half of them didn't even play basketball.
Yeah, but they have watched REALLY HARD!
Well said!Just out of curiosity what do you do when someone doesn't perform up to your standards in your home life? Say you take your car to the mechanic and the mechanic doesn't fix your car. Do you say to yourself oh well I'm not a mechanic so I can't complain or do you take your car back and tell the mechanic to do a better job?
IMO one doesn't have to be trained at a task to recognize when someone else isn't performing very well at that same task.
I want this team to perform well. But when they don't I'm not going to pretend like they are.
To be honest, I wasn't impressed at all. We played Navy for crying out loud!!! They didn't have a player over 6ft tall. The guards are a turnover about to happen every other possession. (Nunn( must get in basketball shape) Dunbar and Harris should have all played 12 minutes or more this game) Nothing beats game experience. No way should this game, been this close at halftime (The reason, no since of urgency and no dominant alpha). Can anyone on our team stop dribble penetration or cut off the baseline on defense?? Can anyone of the guards, throw a entry pass into Russell, while she is not covered by three players??? Can anyone attack the seams ( Not just standing around the perimeter, passing the ball back and forth) of a zone and kick it out, or dish it to the open player?? The real good teams that we are about to play, on our schedule, are going to pressure our guards like never before. The coaching staff, better correct these flaws real quick, (Don't wait 12 games into the season, do it now!!) or we will be in trouble. Its called basic basketball 101 (Pass, Shoot, Dribble, Rebound and Defend) and limit your turnovers to 5 per half. Everyone asked themselves honestly, do we have the guard play this year, to take us to the promise land??? (I see the same type of stagnant offense and who's man is that defense, from last year). Outstanding guard play and great coaching wins Championships, and that's what everyone is supposed to be focusing on and playing for at TN. Anything less than a Championship is unacceptable at TN. HOLLY the bar is set high at TN, hold these young ladies (and your coaching staff) accountable, (Coach them to follow your game plan??) or play someone who will. You must have a since of urgency, and focus when the refs, start the game, and say jump it up.
What is Dunbar's foot problem?
Kort has been suffering from a partially torn planter fascia since last season. This summer and pre-season the doctors and trainers worked very hard on getting it to tear completely (once partially torn it can't be repaired). Relief from intense pain comes from a complete tear of the ligament or surgery which severs it. Surgery would have been season ending, so we opted for forcing the ligament to tear "naturally" with intense stretching, scraping and other methods. The planter fascia finally tore about 3.5 weeks ago. This is approximately a 5-6 week "full recovery" injury. We are almost there! She is released to play limited minutes and work through her remaining pain. She will be back shortly at full capacity! Please continue to be patient with her as she works through the rehab!
Thanks

Thanks,Chris, for the info. Plantar injuries are very painful. Here's hoping that with more time, the pain will be gone and Kortney will be back to herself.Kort has been suffering from a partially torn planter fascia since last season. I understand you saying this. But this LV team is better after two games than last season's team was. Last season after two games, there was no spacing, no passing, no continuity, it was all one-on-one play, and the defense was no better than it is now. I'm not foolish enough to predict championships or anything but this team is better. Maybe they'll get a lot better. I'm going to watch and try to enjoy whatever happens.
I was waiting for you to say I told you so coach llsYear one, I was learning to coach, a parent once suggested something to me that made sense to them. I was about to play a team with a big guard. Mine were small. The parent suggested that my post was just as mobile as their guard.
Without Dad's input, I would have struggled to come up with using my post as a guard.
They are better because the are relaxed.
They aren't being pulled unless it is absolutely necessary. That is a good feeling for a player.
It is all about the mindset.
They are getting permission to fail, thus permission to succeed.
(Holly is letting players like Meme, "find" their game and their shot. . . Holly is learning.)
The shooter's confidence level in the decision to "take the shot" is much better, ergo, offense is more fluid.
And how bout my girl. Leading the team in scoring ;o)

Thanks for the information which is very hard to come by. A lot of us fans were highly upset when we didn't see Kourtney in the exhibition game. I had no knowledge that she had this serious injury. So glad she is getting better brings a lot of excitement to us fans when she gets in a game.
Thanks
