Why would we put Jennings on defense when he has become the go to receiver? Has some of the surest hands on the team

well dobbs attempted 17 passes yesterday and maybe 5 were to jennings and byrd combined. while the defense got gashed. they could probably play D all game and both play 10-15 offensive snaps where they "may" be targeted.

Shoop has done a terrible job. Lots of experienced players playing in that secondary that can't play dead in a western.

I wouldn't say he has done a terrible job, but he could definitely be better... Most of the injuries have been on the front end, but our secondary continues to struggle week after week. They show flashes, but our DBs are just terrible... sorry, but they are constantly being burned, running behind the WR trying to catch up (Sutton included)..... tons of miscommunication and blown coverage/assignments... I am not sure who to specifically pin this on, but it is flat bad. At this point I may actually be willing to sacrifice Byrd and JJ just to get some consistency on D....

I do not blame Shoop really with our defensive problems. He really is trying to hold that entire crumbling fort together (due to a ton of injuries) with a slow curing super glue. I think a lot of people including a lot of the media are conpletely overlooking how badly our injuries are playing into this season. Just completely lazy to not take that fact into consideration.

I think we need to make a personel adjustment or 2 on the defensive side of the ball. Primarily our DB coach. That group should definitely be better than where it is at right now. The LB adjustments need to probably stop or become less frequent, but I think their line of thinking here is getting players playing time for the future. Still, need more consistency from that group.

Our DL is almost completely gutted right now and it doesn't surprise me we gave up some yards to the run (I didn't get to watch the game). Not expecting much from that group because we are playing a lot of 3rd string and lower with some converted guys from other positions. Anybody expecting great play there is setting themselves up for failure.

In the committee minds there is such a category. The Virginia game is already in that column.

I think you overthink more than they do. Right now Ohio State is in the driver's seat, pending Michigan game result. Louisville minus the head to head (and even with the loss they impressed) has more bullet points than many...Heisman frontrunner doesn't hurt in a tie either.

Mathews talking about position moves. Says Jennings and Byrd should be on D and Kelky should slide down to LB.

Agree there.

Jennings best position is safety, but it pisses me off because they've wasted years of development on that side of the ball by making him QB/WR. I hope it doesn't hinder him from getting drafted high in the long run.

I'm gonna assume Malone is back for now.

Brandon Johnson getting PT. Williams red shirting.

Johnson and Calloway have looked good to me in limited action, but if you take away Malone, Jennings, and Byrd, that leaves Smith as the only proven, experienced WR in the group. Now I think Smith has good speed, athleticism, and route-running, but them hands though...

This staff highly underutilized WRs. And knowing that I agree with you completely. If they would actually utilize them and create mismatches against the defense Jennings has the ability to get drafted as a WR in an early round.

Questions I have......

1. Did Martin play? Is he pretty much toast?

2. Did Picou play much after the 1sr quarter?

3. Is Kongbo a lost cause?

4. How long will Bain be out?

5. Will big Charles get a legit shot to play DT?

6. Where was Warrior???

7. Am I the only one who doesn't understand why our DEs crash down rather than keep contain?

I think we may have some pieces to band-aid this D together, just wonder if we will see it happen.

Picou was actually pretty decent. Vickers was atrocious yesterday. He literally had his back to the offense on about 6 plays I saw. Baffling.

Can't risk Kamara or Sutton in the return game and CBJ probably wants an experienced guy who's usually pretty steady.

Cept when he fumbles. :thud: And how much "experience" did he have? First season we had even more bland Jacob Carter when Young wasn't fair catching and Sutton/Kamara more recently.

When I saw Picou I thought he was decent too. The plays I focused on Vickers you are right, he was horrible. Not sure I've ever seen a DT turn his back to the OL like that. Not sure what was up with that.

I need to go back and re-watch the game

Already up to -16.5 for Vols

Missouri doesn't run the ball much and out 2 starting corners are back plus we have da goat Barnett. Plus the vols will be playing with a chance to get to Atlanta, and UF/lsu kicks off at 1 so I think they will keep fans updated on that score. I like the vols big and I think Barnett will break reggie's record this week.

LSU is going to drub UF. 30-something to 10.

That's not enough. I don't want the East to slip from their fingertips. I want their arms ripped from their sockets and then get beaten with the bloody limbs until they see Orange and White stars and wake to realize they were never going to win the title to begin with.

Sorry. I think I blacked out for a min.
