Considering a woman is intentional, IMO. Hiring a female Chancellor would combat the negative perception that UT is unfriendly to women-- a perception fueled by the lawsuits, the Lady Vols drama, the controversial firings of key females in the athletic department and claims that Hart had adversarial relationships with women in power. True or not, the media created an issue for UT, and DiPietro and the BoT might want to address it with a hire that dispels claims of bias.

What's the story on Ole Miss and their fans this season? They are staring down a 6-6 season after slowly building the W/L record under Freeze. And that's with the best QB in the SEC on their team. Is there any discontent in that fanbase right now?

I work with a long time Ole Miss season ticket holder. He seems pretty content with the season so far. Mostly he just talks about how bad State is doing and how fun the Egg Bowl will be.

I don't see that it matters. A man or a woman can be pro- or anti- football. There are plenty of female football fans out there, and even more who can see the benefit of a cash and PR cow on their campus (when used appropriately).

College prof chiming in here.... The most rabid football fans that I know in academia are women.

Just go after the best person for the job.

And that's sort of what I'm driving at. A lot of the problems are scattered around the team, but interceptions is almost exclusively a Dobbs problem (a couple of them were ricochets). Despite his inaccuracy in past years, he was still very careful throwing it. Not so this year.

Did the offensive coaches ask him to take more risks thinking the defense would cover up mistakes? Maybe early, but that wouldn't fit as injuries mounted.

Was he pressing, trying to get the seemingly anemic offense going? Perhaps, but it's had problems in past years, and he didn't commit so many turnovers.

I wonder what he'd say about it.

He'd probably say they just need to work on it and get better. That's what's so baffling-- nobody seems to have a handle on the problem. The OL is out of position a lot, so Dobbs is rushed. Many times, the WRs fail to run the right routes or don't finish them, so Dobbs isn't always on the same page with them. Or maybe he's just a one-read QB. The offense is definitely off and seems to be regressing.

Bingo. Academia is a strange place and not at all the way folks think it is.

Why the hell would Butch suddenly not allow non travel players to participate in Vol Walk? So much for his " one Tennessee" and bringing unity to the team.

Siap did you guys hear that voicemail for Hurd from the Memphis OC. I don't know if he's right about what he said about Butch and Debord, but if he isn't going pro, I hope Hurd goes there and breaks records and shows what he can do. I hate that he's leaving, but there's no denying his talent and no denying how hard he ran the last two years. This year he was off, but I want nothing but the best for him
