Considering a woman is intentional, IMO. Hiring a female Chancellor would combat the negative perception that UT is unfriendly to women-- a perception fueled by the lawsuits, the Lady Vols drama, the controversial firings of key females in the athletic department and claims that Hart had adversarial relationships with women in power. True or not, the media created an issue for UT, and DiPietro and the BoT might want to address it with a hire that dispels claims of bias.
