Blame Game

I don't agree that Jalen should have left. Stick it out, man up and deal with adversity, but how many times are you going to let a Mfer lie to you before you say screw it. Jalen is a quiet person. He doesn't do interviews and doesn't do a lot of talking period. You can take that as arrogance or maybe he just doesn't want to be bothered. I don't expect him to ever come forward and say anything cause it's just not his style, but I'll give you an example of the song and dance BS he got every week from Lying Lyle. This is a quick and easy example of what I'm talking about.

I'd say most everyone here are big Vol fan, and I also suspect that you all caught Butch's press conference last week, right? Remember when he talked about mixing up the running game, running out of pistol, etc. Hell, there was a whole thread titled "I-formation" on here because of it, and we talked about it all week.

Well.....

Where was it? Did you see it? Was old Butch lying to us? Did he gas your head up all week that we were going to do something different and then we didn't? What if you got that same ole song and dance on a daily baisis? I promise you're going to get to a point where you're over it.

Last year - "Hey coach, thanks for everything, but I think I might not be the best fit for the program. I'm interested in looking around and maybe go to a more traditional system when I can use my skills better". "No, Jalen we'll do more things to utilize your skill set better here".

Outback Bowl. Out of maybe 8-9 times Jalen runs out of the I, he averaged about 10 yards per carry.

This year - nothing different. Runnng his big a$$ sideways or into a brick wall. Concussion, back injuries, just beat the hell out of.

I PROMISE if someone lies to you over and over and over again, you're going to do something different too!

74, nobody hates those damn sideways runs than me. If your passing game is prolific, and your opponent has to respect it, those plays might work. But if you don't, the other team's DC is going to send the house, Especially when you always run it to the shortest side of the field.

But you never ever tell your coach to Go F Himself. You don't alienate your team mates because "you are the program". We all wanted to buy his staying in Knoxville for the A&M game as due to injury and that was all. But we didn't want to accept Jalen would be a quitter. He quit on us in Athens. He quit on us in Columbia. He quit on his brothers. And when they called him out, he chose to be remembered by his fans as a quitter.

No matter how anyone slices it, he still quit.

So Jalen was suppose to stand on the sidelines, pretend to have an injury he didn't have?

You do realize these are kids and not live stock right?

It's a game of football not WW2 fighting the Nazi's.

His coach lied to him multiple times and then through out a BS injury to protect his own butt.

If he had admitted it was a concussion, the heat goes of of Jalen asap. But Butch never did that. Left it vague so Hurd could be a scape got for the miserable season they have had so far.

So now all the sheep will blame Jalen for the 3 losses and poor play. It's all Jalens fault and his ego and the players not giving their all because of Jalen.

NO. It was Butch. His lousy scheme. His lies. His poor coaching.

You need to get back on your meds. LOL

and he has to send out some kind of oafish mouthpiece in the form of Vol74, his step Dada, and his poor mom to speak for him. Wouldn't you think after 3 years at a major university and being interviewed by media the young man could speak for himself??? He could not come across more as a weakling than hiding behind his mom, step Dada, and whoever the hell Vol74 is while he quit his team mid-season. Just so first grade.

Dang, Vol74 has pushed this way farther than it ever should have went. A lot of things make sense now, but I kinda wish it didn't get to this point. Feel kinda bad for Jalen that he has this guy as his step dad, and now feel bad for his poor mom. Media taking shots at her. Hope it dies down soon. People on our own team now feeling it, not to mention the recruits.

You're actually going to get on here and run your mouth after that POS just quit on this team?
Stood on the sidelines and watched them lose when they had everything to play for?
You're as dumb and delusional as he is.
Glad he's gone - time for you to go

You're right. Doesn't matter what truths are being brought to the board. All people care about is coming up with crazy a$$ stories to fit their agenda. Anyone could come on here and say whatever they want and the sheep would believe it. J Hurd will talk to the right people when it's time, and they'll hear the truth from him.

I thought you said he wouldn't because that's not what he does. Which is it? You sound confused, if your related maybe that's where he gets it?

i aint a ****ing sheep, and im sure there is culpability to go around....

I have opinions on Butch as well but he aint bobby petrino and leave the team before the end of the seaosn did he.....
gtfoh

wish he would because he damn sure isn't a sec quality coach....debord hire proved that.

We can all say "well Jalen wasn't happy" or " well he is beatup" or "well he was hurt and lied to". Bottom line, I hope Jalen seeks help for the drinking problem and his ego. Until that is fixed, it doesn't matter to me where he plays football because it won't help.

He quit his team, he quit his obligation, he let his friends and family down, should I go on?

like kamara did at Alabama....short memory

I believe Butch probably lied to Jalen. When he's time is done here, all of this will come to light.

I believe coaches say things to recruits during the process all of the time to get them to come to their school. Not exactly sure what this supposed lie was. So they ran some I-formation in the bowl game to see how it would fit into their system. Unfortunately NW is not the SEC, and if we run finesse trap blockers out of the I, we would get killed. Hurd knew what they ran when he got here. Butch Jones had been a head coach for 7 years prior to Hurd's arrival at UT. If he didn't like it he should have never 'committed' in the first place. And to the guy babbling on about looking at for your own. That's exactly what Butch was doing with the other guys that bought in. As far as all of this 'Lyle' talk, you guys sound like a bunch of 12 year olds taunting an adult about his birth name. And it shows a lack of respect. I can see it from kids, but when step dads and former players start with the nonsense they reveal themselves as bottom feeders that no one should ever take seriously.

I've been here a long time and have no plans on leaving.

don't pay any attention to these clowns on volnation.

75 percent of them are dumber than dirt and worship every sad sack excuse of a coach tn hires.

from wonderboy to dufus and now the used car salesman.they are easily fooled as was Jalen.

until we hire a true program builder.a proven big league winner.thus is the life of of our Tennessee vols.

I always find it ironic when some of the dumbest forms of life that have ever crawled on this board act as if they are in the enlightened section.

like kamara did at Alabama....short memory

The two situations aren't in the same ballpark (hell, they're not even the same sport). Kamara transferred after the season to a junior college as a redshirt freshman buried on the depth chart, while Hurd left his team in the middle of the season as the starting running back.

Butch could've absolutely ripped Jalen in his press conference like Saban did Blake Barnett...but he didn't. Butch refuses to throw a player under the bus to the media...but here is part of "Team Jalen" on here absolutely ripping Butch.

Butch is showing some class even though he knows the perception that Hurd's departure can create and you are on here calling Butch names. Why on earth should anyone listen to your BS? You would do Jalen a big favor by just staying off the forums.

Logic. Apply it generously in your everyday lives.

No one likes to be lied to. No one. In any industry. If that is what happened, it's understandable to walk away. But not in the middle of a season. Five games to go max.

I know what he gonna do when his manager lies to him at mcdonalds? He just gonna walk out? During breakfast shift?

You think the NCAA is going to have a field day with a coach that knowingly put a concussed player back in the game in Ga? And the sheep wonder why he said lower-body injury. That's on the family and whatever they want to do. Just know that "did" happen and they have documentation and records.

Oh.....

Cue the frivolous lawsuit talk. You yourself said no one knew that he had a concussion and 'that was the kind of competitor he was'. Can't even keep up with your own bs.

When he didn't see something different in spring ball like he was promised, why didn't he look for greener pastures then? He has had 6 months to move on because "Lyle" wasn't doing what he said. He waited until after game 8 to quit? Doesn't make sense to me but I will consider an explanation.

Notice he didn't QUIT? He gutted it out. I can imagine a zillion reasons why he bit the bullet, but finally lost his cool with the poorly conceived scheme that was not putting him in a position to succeed.
I understand the frustration, but these kids are not pack animals. They have opinions, a competitive fire and want to excel. I can well imagine Hurd got fed up, popped off and put himself in a compromised position.

We have hyperbole, conspiracy theories, and the wild rantings of team Hurd rolled up into one. Wonder what you guys think about these evil coaches across the country that recruit a kid for one position and the kid ends up somewhere else once they get them on campus. Is that a 'lie' in your book? Or a coach reassessing a situation and doing what is best for the team? You guys sound like grade school kids with this 'He lied to him' martyr routine. We don't need to wait for some mythical truth, those of us with a functional brain are seeing the truth come out in this thread with our very own eyes.

Yeah, but he is a 20 year old kid going off on an authority figure. On top of that you have adults in this thread that think that lack of discipline is ok. Speaks volumes about who they are as people.

Hurd should have stayed and played the rest of the season and went to the NFL. In like the 2nd 3rd round IMO. I thank him for his time and power running that punished other teams.
No bashing here. I do believe he was lied to but it happens in life deal with it the best you can and go on and put it in your memory bank for when those people need you later in life.

So IF 5 RB actually get selected before the 4th round..doubtfull.. that means you think j hurd is at least the 5th best RB in the nation?

You are either totally clueless or was in love w hurd. the friggin heisman beast went like mid 2nd round and im not sure but think he was the 1st rb taken

I really liked hurd' running when he was here but lets get real here.

Jalen can do whatever and I hope he succeeds but acting like he was wronged when he was on his way to becoming Tennessee's leading all time rusher just doesn't hold water. If he wants to leave that's fine but don't act like he didn't get a fair shake....that to me, is total selfish and arrogant behavior. Just move on and I wish him the best.
