Byrd is implying this team is not having fun.

It's not just losing. It's the amount of building uncertainty.

Butch is about to drag this Tennessee program even lower than people think we are right now.

Butch is getting paid regardless.

Win or lose this man has 13 million $ securing him here.

He's not going to change. And we're going to lose again.

Still better than the Dooley years

He is the second leading rusher in VOL HISTORY--and has done it behind an OL that is arguably one of the top 5 WORST OLs in the VOL HISTORY....

Just who is kidding whom here????

you can be mad a Jalen all you want....and I don't agree with him transferring from the program.....

BUT you are not very smart if you can't sit down and watch him perform on the field over the last 25+ games in the SEC and conclude that he has AA talent.....
Is Arian foster top 5 also?

There's a big difference in AA talent and being one of the best to ever play at UT

You do realize he's 6th right with Houston with 90 more carries. Has 40 more carries then the leading rusher in Henry.

As much as I like Hurd, he's still behind Jamal, Travis Stephens, Travis Henry, Chuck Webb and Reggie Cobb when it comes to UT's GOAT running backs.

And YET--he has still rushed for more yards than all of them behind one of the youngest and worst OL--and during one of the worst stretches of the program in UT history.

All things considered....if HURD would have had the luxury of running behind the OL that those guys above had--there would be little doubt concerning the GOAT....

Put any one of those guys behind the OL Hurd has had and would your opinion be the same??? I think only Travis Stephens and Chuck Webb would've been able to produce similar numbers in CBJ's offense....

It's easy to hate on HURD right now.....but history will definitely show him in a much better light when all is said and done. :salute:

No but at least foster wasn't soft. Jalen won't ever make it in the NFL until he gets his mind right. Which probably won't happen

So guys like Garner, Lewis or Henry would have struggled where Hurd flourished?

You can play the bad Oline card all you want but at the end of the day there are 2 other backs doing pretty well behind that line.

Bump when a respectable former player tweets something. As long as Pig Howard is our source of who and what are distractions around a football team, I'll pass.

They would not be respectable if they tweeted about this...that would just be "circular reasoning" and get you no where

If he is so great at RB...why is he talking about playing TE or WR at his next school??

This. It looked like we plugged an NFL running back into the game as soon as Kelly stepped on the field Saturday compared to what we were seeing. As hard as Hurd ran his first 2 years, that determination to not go down just evaporated into thin air this season. Maybe it was injury, or maybe it was passion, not exactly sure

Well, that depends on who you believe:

Tee Martin and Travis Stephens would say it's because he's mentally/emotionally soft.

His uncle/not uncle/74 says it's because he has a "spine" injury.

Regardless of how you feel about the current coach. HOW do you speak so negatively and destructively publicly about your alma mater? I will never understand! Zero respect. Zero class. Publicly humiliating the team you played for. Just take "vfl" out of your twitter handle.

Should every person who doesn't like the current president take "American" off of everything they say? And we don't even get the illusion of choice at UT.

If you can't handle criticism for a team, especially someone like Jones who has proven multiple times now he is a terrible coach and can't handle real questions in press conferences, then you need to get off the internet and never watch games because that's literally all sports is.

Now that Jalen is gone we need to wish him the best and be thankful for him being a Volunteer. The rest of the conversations need to end.

There was a reason he was not happy and most of us knew that he was not a fit for this system but he gave a lot of effort to make it work for him and the program. Thank you Jalen and best of luck in whatever you decide to do. We will be cheering for you.

Zero class and Miller is from my neck of the woods. Don't listen.

Am I alone in my feeling that when you really look back at it now with perspective Jalen probably came to UT more for the fact that we would guarantee he could play RB where as a lot of his other major offers were to play LB or TE?

I personally think that was one of the key reasons not his loyalty for the home state school...

74 since you have shown back up Would you be willing to enlighten us on the nature of Jalens offers coming out.. Were many other major programs willing to let him play RB?? Just curious

Well--thanks for correcting me....I honestly hadn't checked the stats lately, but had been lost in what HURD was projected to accomplish this year...I appreciate the info....

However, it doesn't change my opinion of Hurd's accomplishments on the field--or status as one of the top 5 RBs to have played for UT....

In fact--VFL34 had said as much in a thread last year on this site in a comparison of talent between Derrick Henry and Jalen Hurd??

SEVERAL participated in that discussion applauding HURD--AND NOW--ALLEGEDLY, less than one year later--HE'S CRAP...He's useless....It's a wasted down handing him the ball....He's not good... That's just B.S.!!!!!!

If HURD would've rushed for just 900 yards in 12 games this year--he would've been #1 and everybody would be singing his praises.....

However--Hurd will end his career as a UT RB just 440 yards shy of the all-time record....And he has done it behind in one of the worst periods of UT FB behind one of the youngest and least talented OLs in UT history!!!

And he has done it in 33 games...

All are entitled to disagree with me....but it won't change my opinion of Hurd's ability as a RB.....

Meh... If the rumors of him refusing to play in the 2nd half are true that is a game changer. His legacy at UT will be muddy to say the least. That's a shame for him.

That isn't confirmed as yet--and hasn't become a reality.....

I'll believe it when I see it....He gonna play RB for somebody....

Or--if he was smart--he'd play LB for someone instead....
