Hate that it came to this, but it is probably for the best for all concerned. He was a square peg trying to fit into a round hole for this offense, and he's only got so many carries (or receptions now) in that body. Kamara and Kelly will be better fits anyway.

Only thing I can figure is somebody got in his ear and convinced him that he was going to have to play TE to play at the next level.

Hard to see how a guy taking himself out of the game for no apparent reason isn't a disruption to the team. His teammates called him on it and it seems as if, instead of facing it or riding it out until the end of the season, he chose to quit.

Kinda hard to do after you flat out lie to the kid.

He is transferring because he doesn't feel Jones has prepared him for the NFL yet. This may change but that says ALOT about our staff.

Let's assume this is correct...I still don't see how quitting the team more than halfway through the season leading up towards your likely being headed to the draft makes sense.

Jones doing a good job of covering his true feelings--but I think he is GLAD that HURD is leaving the team.....

Anyone else have an opinion???

If Hurd asked to change positions, especially to TE where (a) we need quality bodies and (b) his catching and blocking skills would be valuable, and Butch said no, then you really have to question Butch's intelligence.

Did Hurd not recognize throughout spring and fall camp that the offense was the same?
