Let's not forget this incident from last November. Everything is going fine and we were winning games and our star running back is complaining about an article that talks about how good he is.

Per 74, he threatened to transfer last spring after he ran for 1k yards and he was set to break the all time UT rushing record.

LWS says he was benched on a top 10 team that was 4-0 when he was the starting running back.

I'm sorry but I'm inclined to say "peace out" to this drama.

If you had told me almost a month to the day of our amazing Hail Mary victory against Georgia to savor it because in 30 days the team will have 3 straight losses, be essentially out of the East race, and Hurd will leave the team I would have said you were crazy. Yet here it is. What did Tennessee ever do to piss off the gods of football? We are the laughing stock of the league now and recruiting will be taking a nose dive for sure.

You would think that would be better since he know the system instead of going to another school and trying to learn a new position and new system with one year left. Maybe thats where he will play best in the NFL. If you can't take the pounding in College it isn't going to get any better in the NFL.

Chase Hayden instead of Trey Coleman in this offense. I've said it all along. The coaches don't use Hurd correctly. Why no fullback? Just poor coaching and decision making.

I highly doubt he is going to transfer and play tight end. He is going to enter the draft this spring. This "transfer and play tight end" talk is to save face IMO.

That's just my read on it based on what we know right now.

Makes no sense why he wouldn't just stick it out and go pro.

But if we wants to play TE, I can understand not wanting to play for someone he thinks is incompetent and lied to him.

Seems the most likely answer. I'm not sure how much flakier you can get than quitting/transferring and playing a completely different position at a new school. If it's truly the dreaded scheme then why change positions unless of course you figured out that maybe you weren't as good as you thought once you saw two others play better than you at your position?

Mark Howard really ripping into Hurd this morning on the zone. Pretty much calling him a selfish diva.

MARK gets his information from Jimmy Hyams.
