We just lost to a total horsecrap Usuck team...that was playing a kid at QB who should be still in HS....That is an implosion.
Jalen's worked his tail off since he's been here, and it's time for him to move on. He's hurt, been hurt, playing hurt (even had an MRI today), and it's just time to go.
Butch made many promises to Jalen including running more of an I-formation (remember what they did in the entire Outback Bowl last year) to convince him to stay, and then Butch never ran it one time this year. Jalen knew he didn't fit this system, and wanted to go find a better fit last year, but he believed what the staff said to him so he stayed.
He's taken a beating, and wants to have a long career in the NFL one day. He will no longer play RB and is considering a change to WR/TE. He is not going to the NFL right now nor does he want to. He's going to go to another offense and develop at the position first.
He spent time with about 20 of his closest teammates tonight at the team meeting and told them what he had decided. Most knew anyway. Pretty sure he broke down as this has been hard on him.
Most Vol fans will never know the pain that he has played through and endured the past 2 years because most only care about W's, but in the end, I hope a few do actually remember his contributions the past couple of years.
Or you could take that disappointment and win out the rest of the season, go to a good bowl game, win it and we are 10-3. But implode? come on. Only ones imploding are in here starting rumors as facts.
Based on what 74 said it sounds like Jalens body has taken a beating from playing RB and this offense. Maybe that gets better in another position but would explain his drop in production.
Man I don't give a crap about the rumors. I haven't even brought it up. We just lost a chance at a truly special season. Who gives a rats butt about another mediocre bowl game? This is bad. There is no getting around it. Recruiting will suffer because of this horsecrap performance. It was already sucking this year.
This offense? This offense isn't the cause of taking more beatings. He came in and played right away as a true freshman. That's how Butch sold it to some recruits. Do these guys want to play right away or not?
I can appreciate what he's done, but he is now putting himself first before the team. I understand he wants to make money, and we all do. But that's very disappointing at this point in the year.
