Difference is that it was one game. We saw this kind of play in an entire season under Dooley.
And I always wonder why we should accept mediocrity. There's HUGE money involved in college football. Doesn't a historically great football program deserve better?
I said at the beginning of the year that Atlanta was the goal. Anything else is disappointing. However, I also said that it doesn't necessarily mean that Butch should be fired. You can be disappointed and not fire your coach. Kind of an overreaction if you ask me.
I have been ok with the defense. Take into account the injuries and the poor offense making them stay on the field too long, they've performed admirably. The offense has been offensive. Dobbs has shown no improvement, Hurd has regressed. The oline is atrocious.

Are you hearing anything from the families of the starters that you know that should be concerning after last night's debacle?
I think the disappointing thing about the defense is that they have been "just okay" or mostly "average." Bringing in Shoop was supposed to take them to an elite level. Unfortunately the injuries are largely to blame and we will never truly know how good this year's D could have been.
I might get flamed for this, but... I'll reserve judgement on Hurd. I can only imagine how frustrating it would be to have that much talent only to get swarmed under behind the line of scrimmage on 70% of my carries because the blocking scheme is garbage. He's gotten every yard he has virtually by himself. If at this point, he's decided to save his legs for the NFL, then I don't know that I blame him.

Why are the other running backs not getting swarm? Because they run with a purpose like he used to do. Not the same since his bonehead play vs Georgia. Sit him unless attitude changes.
