Unless we lose 2-3 more Butch is probably safe for at least another year. Recruiting has been subpar all year and continued from last years class drop off. Unfortunately the talent advantage we had will be long gone once we make a move coaching wise. Butch gave it a run, but it's just a matter of time now IMO.

Watching the Vol sidelines last night, it's obvious something is wrong. The players looked very subdued, even after Evan Berry's TD. And Hurd was just stoic & emotionless after his TD. :ermm:

Yeah, I noticed Kamara and Sutton (who traveled with the team) were staring in space. I don't understand why they were there.

He needs to be gone ASAP while the talent is on the team. I'd take Herman here even with what his team has done lately. I still believe he's a rising star as a coach.

I am mad as heck but you are like a woman in menopause. We gonna kill bama and Justin Martin is great and bama slaw. Now Butch sucks and our players are still great. Dobbs should've been pulled and others benched a long time ago like Hurd. OC is a joke but this program was horrid and I will wait till the year is over before I go full wussy.

Whoever takes over after Butch will walk into a much better situation than Butch did at least

Still won't be as attractive as jobs like LSU, Texas, USC.

This is not the year to change coaches. I thought that Tennesee was attractive to everyone, but I learned my lesson after Kiffin when nobody wanted to come here.

Edit: A GOOD Offensive coordinator might give them a spark because something is needed to wake them up.

I'm with the crew that says the team looked absent minded. Really concerning.

You have a great shot at ATL, and this is what you bring?

I totally agree. This didn't look like the same team that fought so hard in the earlier games to come back to win. I will say our D look like they wanted to win but our O is a whole different story. No fire, our Senior QB throwing dirt balls at WR's feet. Dobbs mind was not on or in the game.

Where was the OL? How many times did multiple usc players end up in the backfield so quickly?

I'm not on menopause. That loss is Dooley Kentucky level in my eyes. That's where I'm at after yesterday.

I agree. You have a coach that has improved in wins every year and now has a disappointing year that should have been a great year. CBJ will get next year to hopefully make the changes he needs to make on coaching staff but if he has another bad year, then the seat gets really hot. But firing a coach with all the variables that has happen this year I believe would be an alarm to the better coaches. jmo

That's pretty much where I'm at. I think Butch still could find success here, but he's gonna have to take his hands off the offense and bring in someone who can take advantage of the talent.

And I'm not so sure he's gonna do that (or that we'll find an OC whose willing to work under someone like Butch who is a bit of a control freak with his offense).

Right now I'm kind of thinking it will be a slow 1-2 years before we make a HC change. The timing just isn't right at the moment.

Definitely something wrong internally with the team which explains the drop off in recruiting as the best recruiters are the current team memberrs.

If CBJ loses the team, suspect we will miss on several major targets such as T Smith

I had the same thought. USCe is a terrible team with a bad coach. A true freshman getting his first start at QB and they were down to two corners after Lammons was kicked out.

We have played well below our ability all year and it finally came back to haunt us. We got lucky to beat App State and Georgia. Two teams we should have beat by several scores.

Could be very tough to talk a top caliber OC to come onboard with the Butch seat now very hot.

disagree. they have talent and a down east. that's also the main thing holding Tennessee back right now. you have the DC with a great rep. just need the same on O.

butch just needs to concede to a top OC and shut up.

if arkansas beats florida next week you crybabies will let hope trickle back into your poor little hearts. what we need is to beat up tech and gators lose. then just maybe the last 3 games mean a little more than jack $#it as it stands now.

It's mind-boggling. Something is not right… Have no idea what it is, but something is going on behind-the-scenes that none of us have a clue about.

Basically we have lost control of our own destiny n have to depend on gators to lose.

Next few games will be a test of CBJ coaching mettle

Honestly that would be bad for the program at this point. We need wholesale changes and backing into Atl will prevent them happening.

At the bare minimum we need an entirely new offensive system for next year. If that isn't enough, which it may not be, then we need to replace the HC.

I agree with others who have said this is Butch's "Dooley loss to Ky." The bad news KY is gonna smoke this team too in a couple weeks. We can either fahr Butch after this year, or fahr him after he starts 2-4 next year.

Honestly, I do not want to go to Atlanta with this team. They do not deserve it.
