And until the Republicans confront their failure to correctly address issues with the country and figure out how to include others in the party it will not win elections and it will fade away.

The presidential election maps have been the same way during the last elections. Simply huge portions of the country are red when viewed by county, but the cities just have too much clout. It's an urban/rural rather than a geographical divide, and it sure explains a lot of the divisiveness across the country.

The democratic vote in metropolitan Atlanta may very well be the deciding factor in GA in the future. Cities have too much clout, but as long as it's one man one vote that's the way it will play out.
