That throw to Hurd in the flat wasn't on 1st down unless I misread the box
Edit: it was on first down
I have no idea. This is not the first time though that Dobbs has done it. Really smart but gets scared when he feels pressure and doesn't let his instincts kick in. Sometimes, he doesn't scramble when he should. Ali am saying that it all goes together. Great execution makes a play call look like a genius call; terrible execution makes it look bad. The Hurd catch in the flat was just not the right read. Middle was wide, wide open, and Dobbs never gave it a chance.
We are one of the worse team at speed throws whether it is out in the flat to a WR in motion or a WR bubble screen. I mean it takes forever for some plays to develop. I don't think Dobbs is very good at those throws either.
I put that on coaches. I've got problems with two coaches on this staff. Mahoney and DeBord. We're in year 5 and the O-line is no better than the day he arrived. And has Dobbs really progressed?
