Lady Vols Recruiting Info

Like I said yesterday, I'm not going to repeat what is being said. As someone mentioned, it's not being done by every school. There are schools that recruit the right way (playing up their program, their coaches, their player development, Olympians, All Americans, conference, schedule, facilities, history, etc) and there are others that don't. That also extends to AAU coaches who aren't receiving any financial cutbacks from schools, so they demean coaches and programs to their players.

I try to deal with recruiting in this way "expect the worst and hope for the best." You won't have your hopes up in the event things don't work out.

Trust me I know, The AAU circuit is ruthless when it comes to coaches selling their players to the highest bidder. Just had a conversation with someone on Twitter trying to convince Evans that now that she got UT's visit out her system that she needs to come home where she belong (Louisville) and I had to remind the individual that they signed 2 Guards in 2015 (Durr and Cole who transferred to Georgia), 2 guards in 16, they already have a verball from Lindsay Duvall in the 2017 class and are interested in Carter, and they also have a verbal from a 2018 prospect as well as Nyah Green (the Number 2 prospect in the 2019 class). I told him (with her linked in the tweet) that if she really wants to play and have a chance to win it all it will be at UT. Waltz signs so many players that he will be facing a lot of transfers in the near future imo

How confident are you that we do not strike out this year?

Did Durr transfer?

I wonder would we reconsider Ursin if she is still available should we not land Evans or Hayes? All the other teams she were interested in (South Carolina, Baylor, Texas) have already received verbals from higher ranked Guards (Texas, Baylor) or are done with the 2017 class (South Carolina)

South Carolina is done. They are at 14 and that want to save some for 2018, So there done. top 15 class easy.

Actually we are 15. Tiffany Davis still has 2 years of eligibility due to red shirt and and injury and will head to grad school. We will have 6 spots open for 2018 so we will need to reload with top class Hopefully Nelson-Ododa will be our A'ja replacement. We will be saying farewell A'ja, Kaela, Tiffany, Alisha, Alexis AND Bianca. Wow that is a lot of talent to lose.

A LOT OF TALENT and I say this without any rudeness, but what a waste of talent if a NC isn't brought home.

Kaela Davis and alisha are juniors there is no guarantee they are leaving after this year.and bianca is listed as a junoir as well

They wouldn't play with the 2018 class though as they will graduate in the Spring of 2018 when the 2018 class arrives for the Fall. They would play 1 season with the 2017 class and they would leave

Many female basketball players are gay. A coach would have to determine if the recruit is gay or straight to use "homophobia" as a recruiting technique. How do they do that? Do they ask the recruit directly or do they hire a private detective or what?

Nobody wants to delve into the subject but here's what a recruit's mother told me a few years ago. The coaches go after the parent/parents with the line that if your girl goes to X school she will get turned out. The kids don't pay much attention but it is aimed at the parents. UT has had that used against them by some big time folks starting with up North.

Then what happens when that school up North churns out their share of lesbians, despite their reassurance that they won't "turn out" their girls?

Lesbian Factory is the stupidest recruiting tactic I can think of, just because of the sheer number of lesbians that not only play, but are icons for the sport.

Alexis Jennings still has two years of eligibility AFTER she sits out this year. So she could leave the program in 2019.. unless she chooses to leave with A'ja's class. She's really good friends with A'ja and Allisha.

You're absolutely correct. Although I wouldn't say it's a waste of talent (most of them will carry the SC brand to the WNBA) but it will definitely seem like an opportunity lost, especially with UCONN not being head and shoulders above everybody else. If Dawn can't bring a title to Columbia in the next few years with all of that talent I fear she won't be able to... it'll only get harder in the coming years with talent spreading out more and more each year.

If we're thinking of the same school up north, I think the majority of their coaching staff (at the time in question) was "turned out."
