'17' TN ATH Tee Higgins (Clemson commit)

I'm not saying anything i just said this was said on the CoachT Message Board

You should have proofed your own post and when it started with " a poster on a message board..." that should have given you the general idea that it is probably not the most reliable source and maybe you should consider not stirring the pot without anything more concrete than some probable troll throwing more feces against the wall.

People have to stop blaming DeBo and Dobbs for everything. !. This is not DeBo's offense. This is CBJ offense that he had at CMU and Cincy. DeBo ran a Pro style I formation offense at Meecheegan. 2. It could be Dobbs but the thing is play calling and route combinations with this offense. Things have improved since Scott's arrival but it is still very bland and bad. The one thing that has become drastically better is the Wr technique and get off at the LOS. 3. You're going to continue to get Dobbs style qbs because that's what is gonna be attracted to UT and this offense. Someone has to completely do away with the offense and the OL coaching in order for us to become a better team offensively.

Ok. Fair enough. I blame Jones and Dobbs.

Dobbs still gets some of the blame in my book. The play calling and system seem flawed -- that's true. Dobbs' execution of the plays they handed him has been inconsistent at best. That's on him.

I agree on Mahoney 100%. The thing is You have to remember at Cincy they ran 2 qb system and he also played a lesser competition at both places. I also believe that the lack of an experienced qb coach kills Dobbs development.
You can't use the lesser competition decoy when the rest of the conference was as equally talented as Cincy was. Butch wasn't pulling in 4/5 stars at Cincy either.

I definitely think this offense can operate through the air better with a more conventional pocket passer. It plays to the strengths of the personnel but still could be more creative. I would love to see what Gus could do with this group.

Gus can't do anything with his own group.

IMHO.....it's a combination of lots of things that have been mentioned. In not particular order of importance

cbj being conservative with play calls because he is confident we can win without passing.

route tree that doesn't use the middle of the field

not great play calling

Dobbs inaccuracy (I actually think this is less of a problem than most on here)

Dobbs not seeing the field

Oline struggles

I do think the receivers are less of the problem this year. Bottom line, it's all under CBJ's umbrella of responsibility. I'm not trying to be too negative. I think we have the talent to win big this year.

Not using the middle of the field probably has to do with inaccuracy

Gus came out of high school ranks and changed the spread made it a creative running attack coming at you from all sides. Say what you will about him as a head coach but dude would have a blast with this offensive roster.

Some coaches are just meant to be coordinators. I would be thrilled to have someone like Malzahn running the offense. He's a good coordinator, but he shouldn't be responsible for an entire team. In the same category as Kiffin.

Problems with the passing game:

-Playcalling is entirely too bland. DBs aren't surprised that it's a pass play when they are called. Most times it's only on obvious passing downs.

-Passing concepts are bland as well. We don't run enough real route combinations. Just basic isolation routes most of the time.

-Personnel usage is next up. Why are we not throwing certain routes to certain guys all the time? Jennings on the fade was one but we tried to go back shoulder to Josh Smith. He doesn't make those catches on the regular.

-Oline play is pedestrian in pass blocking. Our line doesn't take pride in protecting their QB. Ridiculous how they look lackadaisical in pass protection.

-Dobbs decision making is up next. His arm is fine especially now that he's added touch on the deep ball. The decisions with it aren't showing smart play at all. He should be much better now with the ball. He's throw two picks that should've never been thrown and had a few more that should've been picked. He's got to be better mentally.

All that screams "elite WRs should stay away"
