'17 MS RB Cam Akers (FSU commit 12/27)

I'm telling yall right now. This is between...OSU....UT....and LSU. FSU is in this more than OLE MISS.

FSU is definitely still in for Akers. I think OSU though is emerging as the favorite. I'm hoping we could hang in there to get him to have that 1-2 punch like a Hurd-Kamara type connection.

You think CW was more talented then Jamal Lewis?

Talent does not assure greatness. Chuck Webb in my opinion is the best RB we have ever had. I've always said that. I love all the great ones also. Jamal may have taken that place in my view, if he hadn't mailed in his last season here. That ain't greatness. Of course Jamal is the bed pro we've ever produced, but Chuck never had the chance to show what he could do. I loved watching that kid run.

There's definitely no video of Jamal Lewis scoring a touchdown

There's no video of Lewis picking up 3rd and 1's against fla in the 4th qtr to seal the game. Lewis had so many chances. Webb gets those first downs

Chuck Webb was one of those gifted talents that embody the "once in a generation" monikers. May never see anything like him again at Tennessee. Measurables like speed, height and weight aren't what defined him. There have been running backs that have measured better than Barry Sanders, but he's generally considered the best pure runner in NFL history...Gale Sayers being second. Like Sayers, Webb's knee deprived us of more than a taste of pure thrilling highlights. Unlike Sayers, there was better medical technology. Jamal Lewis (to his credit), put in the work and came back from TWO knee injuries. Of course he had even more advanced medicine at his disposal, but he also put in the work. I believe most fans that have seen both would lean to Webb...just for the art.

Good points, but I personally still favor Jamal. His Freshman game against Georgia still gives me chills just thinking about. I think he rushed for 235 yards that day.

Beautifully said and 100% right. Webb is the best Tennessee RB I've seen in watching 40+ years. Lewis, Henry and Garner right there, then Stephens, Jones, Stewart and Graham. Then all the others.

As I said, saw BOTH. Had been railing on talk radio about Cut holding off on Lewis. What was beyond maddening was when they FINALLY put him in against Florida. Immediate impact! Was screaming at the big screen in Lewisville with two other Vol fans "Great blocking Cutcliffe!" And he was even more explosive against Ole Miss. So I was real excited about 3 years with this kid...and still put him below the one epic full season with Webb. Webb was actually the backup to Reggie Cobb until...drugs. With both we probably win the title that season, but when he had the field all by himself? Threat to go all the way every time he touched the ball. Really thought he was on par with Barry Sanders until the injury and have never swayed from that opinion.
