This isn't rec league. You don't get participation points. Tennessee has a chance to do something special this year, and getting one of your elite RB's hurt on game week would be 1 million % worse than some players hurt feelings because they have to practice in regular jersey's and not green jersey's. Even though I doubt Cam or anybody else cares who practices and how much, as long as the team wins.
I know because I have been a coach before myself but it was for 6th & 7th grade players though.
Might as well delete my VN account as I've seen it all on here now.... can't believe someone would post this to a college football forum thinking it validates their opinion that the $4 million a year coach who has a top 10 ranked team doesn't know how to properly run a practice!
They can get hurt in this 1st game just as easy by not getting hit the last few days before the game.
I wasn't trying to compare 6th & 7th graders to college players. I was just telling what I learned as a coach. Setting players out to avoid injury before games to me is not the right choice that's unless the player(s) are really banged up & you don't want to take a chance of injuring them any farther.
Football is a contact sports & by not allowing them contact 4-5 days before the game could cause problems for the game itself. That's all I'm saying guys. I make a post & you'll are like a pack of lions. It's my opinion just like everybody else on here gives their opinions & more. Thanks!
I know that but don't they still need to practice just like the rest of the team? Do they really not have any type of injuries & Butch is placing them in green jerseys to keep them out of practice?
To me, that just not right & fair to any of the other players if they're not really nicked up. They need to be practicing here 4 days away from the 1st game again unless they're really banged up.
The green jersey is a no contact jersey. They're going through all the drills and everything like everyone else.
To clear up any confusion, the players in green jerseys are no contact. Does NOT mean they aren't practicing like everyone else. In fact, in some of the post practice interviews I've been to, guys like Dobbs, Kamara, Hurd, Maybin, and Sutton (who have worn green or other non contact jerseys) are still out there practicing various drills. What's been even more encouraging is that many of the freshmen have been staying afterwards to keep on practicing. Every single practice I've been to (pretty much all of them that media has been allowed) never has a down moment. The players encourage each other along with the coaches.
Also, I can't remember who posted it (and I should've responded when I saw it) but it looked like Alexis Johnson was slow in terms of conditioning, not attitude. But I think with a little more time in the program and conditioning, he can be a solid tackle for us. He's definitely got the size. He looks about what McKenzie did last year except he's not as tall I don't think.

Don't I have to get a some sort of box or something for that? Or can I just get online and use it?
