I don't see Georgia losing 3 conference games...they would have to lose to Ole Miss, Florida, and Auburn

printable-georgia-football-schedule.jpg

Man, That schedule looks weak. They don't play anybody really until us.

Ole Miss, the Ole Miss who returns the best QB in the SEC and beat Bama the past two seasons are not really anybody?!?!?

Being kind of starved for football, I've spent some time watching VT games from last year. Broadcast videos aren't really adequate for breaking a team down.... but the one guy from last year's team that would have concerned me is Brewer.... and he's gone.

They have a 3 way race for QB now after neither JUCO transfer Evans nor returnee Motley being able to lock the job down. After having a very pedestrian D that couldn't stop Tulsa in their bowl... VT has to find replacements for their most productive LB and two best DL's. I think I read where they lost a returning DB also.

Their O returns some guys from a unit that finished mid-pack in the ACC last year but really struggled to move the ball against teams with a pulse. They were 8th against all opponents but only 11th against teams with a winning record. They only played six teams with a winning record.... they went 1-5 against those teams with the only win being 7-6 NCSU.

Talent wise.... there appears to be as much or more disparity between UT and this VT team than there was between UT and Northwestern or Iowa.

I keep telling people this game has the potential to look like our game in Eugene but with the score flipped. VaTech doesn't have the speed or athletes to shut down our passing and running attack so they will sell out to stop either Dobbs running, Hurd/Kamara running, or the passing game. My guess is we'll see a lot of foot races to the endzone since the D will play super close to the line. Dobbs will hit a few short passes that are taken 40+ yards to the end zone. This opens up the running game and then it's over

UNC is the 3rd best ACC team and has a legit shot at winning the whole conference. Ole Miss is coming off a Sugar Bowl win and no one would be surprised if they won the West this year. UGA should roll into our game 2-2, anything better and Kirby is ahead of the curve

RE: Georgia

Stuart Mandel said on Finebaum today..

Other than the koolaid drinkers and UGA has more than their fair share of those in their fanbase as well as outside their program who over hype their program, the realistic football types understand last season Bama blew them out at home. Their product on the field just did not match up. They also recognize our product matched up very well against Bama at their house last year, within 5 points of an NC season for The Tide. The realistic in Athens knows what's about to happen to them when the Big Orange rolls into town this year. Sanford won't have much in it by the 4th quarter is my prediction. Of course, Kirby will do with Chubb what Richt did with Bama, let him crank off a long run against our 4th stringers to keep him in the great RB conversation. Before Chubb's long run against Bama late after the lowout, a rather decent >3 ypc which coincidentally was what he had against us before his injury last year. I ain't scared of no Chubb, I know a UGA DB that better be scared of Hurd though. lol

It's extremely hard for me to see Tennessee losing to Georgia.

I think we drop one to either bama or ATM

Ding, Ding, Ding!

I think we have the talent to go 11-1 or better. Fla game is CRITICAL for the players' confidence IMO. A win there could cement team & coaching chemistry and start us rolling down-hill...

I think we finally have the talent in the secondary to stack the box against UGA and challenge their new QB to beat us throwing the ball...It's just very hard for me to believe that Kirby Smart will actually fare better than Richt...

aTm is the game that troubles me the most... Trevor Knight is good and that will truly be a hostile environment.

I could stomach a loss to aTm as our only regular season loss....

Stacking the box and making Bama beat us thru the air will be the way to win a low-scoring game much like last year's....17-14...21-20...except this time we will be able to stop their run... Team with best QB play will win...

11-1 is my prediction barring a negative TO margin and injuries...

9-3 or 10-2 with bad turnovers and injuries to key folks...

Not sure where I read it, but a last week I saw a couple of articles saying Knight was struggling at A&M. Supposedly he had a good spring but is struggling this fall.

UGA had on offensive line that quit on the team last year. Michel is no slouch RB, averaged over 5 ypc on the season, but UGA had 4 straight games where they did not score a single touchdown. Starters were benched for non performance others moved, now all the smoke and mirrors in the world is not going to fix that in one off season with a fruitbasket turnover in staff as well.

So tell me...how many 40+ yard TD passes did Hobbs throw last year? You really think VT is slow with no athletes? You do realize that both VT and Tennessee basically recruit and go after the same prospects.

And Stuart Mandel is a flipping idiot... My 6 year old can do a better job at predictions then that clown!

Are you a Georgia fan? And I dont remember asking your opinion. Mandel stated it as a fact, and he's probably in better shape than you are to know whats going on in Athens.

No. Simply not enough of them that can play at a high level. UK isn't slow either. Nor is Vandy. Mizzou is a good bit faster than you.

You do realize that both VT and Tennessee basically recruit and go after the same prospects.

To the very limited extent that's true.... you lose more often than win.

Who exactly did both schools go after that VT got? Since you seem obsessed with the idea that VT recruits as well as UT does and since the only measure we have of that are recruiting rankings.... VT avg'd 29th over the last 4 years according to Rivals. UT avg'd 11th.

During that period, UT signed 51 4/5* players to 22 by VT. Also during that period, UT signed seven 5* players all of whom will be either starters or in the 1st string rotation when the two teams play. VT's sole 5* player during that period left early for the NFL.

During those 4 years, UT signed 2 2* position players. VT signed 12.... and I think a couple start.

You are about where UT was 4 years ago. Fuente is a good coach and will probably build you back. But whereas he's at the beginning of the process, Jones is at the point where it starts to bear fruit.

the distractions at Bristol are going to be difficult to manage for both coaching staffs. this game will have more distractions then seen at bowl games. The hype and just the game environment will be off the charts. The winner may end up being the first team that can find their focus.

I'm not predicting a loss to VAT but do see it as possible. just depends on focus.

We have been a better team than Florida the last two seasons, Arkansas last year and Vanderbilt in 2014. Losing to teams that you are better than happens weekly in college football, even to teams that should compete for a championship.

I just think we lose one game somewhere. I think we have better talent than all but one team. Doesn't mean we win all 11 though.

If all goes well this season and we make it to sec championship, we might can use the Bristol hype and distractions in the post season. As in the Bristol game can hopefully help mature our team and get them to look beyond distractions and perform well

I still just see us only losing to bama barring big injuries.

Some games will be close, but I don't think UGA, atm, or vtech are good enough and I feel like we'll finally beat Florida

Recruiting rankings are just a piece of the puzzle. They are not the whole picture. Just look at Georgia's 2013 class. Georgia 2013 Football Commits

On paper it was higher rated than our 2013 class and should theoretically be more talented. But if you look at the names, you'll see our class was WAY BETTER. Tennessee 2013 Football Commits

Dobbs > Brice Ramsey
Sutton > any DB they signed
JRM > Tim Kimbrough

Dylan Wiesman and Corey Vereen have also developed into more quality starters than anybody Georgia signed that class at those positions. In fact, the only real quality player Georgia signed that class was Leonard Floyd and he's already in the NFL so he won't be helping them next year.

Our classes have outperformed their rankings so far. If there is anything Butch Jones has proven, its that he can EVALUATE and DEVELOP talent.

I could care less what the recruiting rankings say, we're vastly more talented than Georgia.

Yeah amazing that our 3 stars from 2013 are all starting and are on watch lists I just wanted to show that other teams have a lot of talent also

I agree with the logic.

I have us at 11- 1.
We edge UF.

Also, UGA is a still a major threat. The should turn into an annuak 10 win team by recruiting alone.

But truth is everything goes through Bama.
They could be even better this year.

If Bama beats SC.... watch out.

Saban has never had an undefeated season.

The Bristol game is about a lot of things but ONE of those things is to shut Michigan up about their Big House and attendance IMO.

Saban has never had an undefeated season.

He's had one: 2009, 14-0.

That note aside, I agree with your underlying point: going undefeated is hella difficult, and pretty rare, no matter how good the coaches and players may be.

p.s. Urban Meyer did it twice: once at Utah, and once at Ohio State.
