The job this staff has done recruiting talent and depth is simply amazing. The turn around from even 2 years ago is incredible. Quality, fast players all over the field and some really good freshman will get to redshirt finally. Can't wait for the season to start.
Nice post D4H.
This has absolutely nothing to do with Jumper one way or another. But, I expect big things out of Gavin Bryant. He played very well on ST last yr as a true FR. He was in on a lot of plays. I would not be surprised at all to see him behind Darrin by season's end.
Shy is still not 100%, Alexis is not reinstated, and we know Butch never lets freshmen start at the beginning of the year. By December when we play for the SEC title, I hope this is the depth chart:
QB - Dobbs/Dormady/Guarantano
RB - Hurd/Kamara/Kelly
WR1 - P. Williams/Jennings/B. Johnson
WR2 - Malone/George/Callaway
Slot - J. Smith/Byrd/L. Williams
TE - Wolf/Croom
LT - Richmond/Kendricks
LG - Robertson/Boulware
C - Thomas/Jones
RG - Wiesman/Jones
RT - Hall/Kendricks
DE - Barnett/Phillips/Mixon
DT - Tuttle/Kongbo/A. Johnson
DT - McKenzie/Vickers/O'Brien
DE - Vereen/D. Taylor/A. Smith
WLB - Reeves-Maybin/Sapp/McDowell
MLB - Kirkland Jr./Jumper/Bryant
SLB - Bituli/Bynum/Bates
CB - Sutton/Buchanan/Henderson
CB - Martin/Moseley/Osborne
Nickel - Gaulden/Foreman
Dime - Foreman/Abernathy
FS - Warrior/Abernathy/Griffin
SS - Kelly Jr./Berry
Amazing how LOADED our roster is.
That's a solid two-deep, D4H, well done. Think maybe O'Brien starts early on (you have him third-string), but gets overtaken as soon as Tuttle's 100% again. Otherwise, don't see a fault anywhere. Plenty of room to debate among our many talented D-backs, but no faults.
LOL. Our d-line is so loaded, I forgot about LaTroy Lewis.
He'll obviously be in the D-Line rotation.
DE - Barnett/Phillips/Lewis/Mixon
DT - Tuttle/Kongbo/A. Johnson/Picou
DT - McKenzie/Vickers/O'Brien
DE - Vereen/D. Taylor/A. Smith
That's 14 bodies that could see playing time in any given game.
I wouldn't be surprised if our d-line dominates this year like Alabama's did last year.
Defense will look More like this IMO:
DE Barnett/ Phillips/ Taylor
DT Vickers/ Kongbo/ Picau
DT. McKenzie/ Obrien/ Tuttle
DE. Vereen/ Lewis/ Mixon
WLB. Maybin/ McDowell, Sapp
MLB. Kirkland/ Bryant/ Jumper
SLB. Bynum/ Bates/ Bituli
CB. Sutton/ Henderson/ Buchanan
CB. Martin/ Moseley/ Osborne
FS. Kelly/ Abernathy/ Gaulden
SS. Berry/ Warrior/ Griffin
Nickel Foreman/ Gaulden/ Osbourne
What makes you think Evan Berry is any good at safety?
He's not practiced in a week. And even when he was practicing he was not a projected starter. Gaulden and Kelly were projected to start till the emergence of Warrior and Abernathy made Gaulden expendable and was moved to nickel.
I think Warrior and Abernathy see the field before Evan.
By the end of the season I don't think there's any way George is over Callaway in the depth chart.
What about Charles Moseley? Will he factor in the OL this year?
DF4, you are leaving 1 player out that I think will make an impact or be at least somewhat of a factor in 2016:
Andrew Butcher(hybrid DE/DT)(once fully recovered)
Now, Butcher probably won't play a lot but I could see him getting some snaps each game especially the non-conference games.
Not a chance. He's a tweener without a position right now. He's already been recruited over. Literally have not heard or read one word about Butcher being anywhere near the depth chart or having any impact on Team 120. I'm not even sure he's healthy. No disrespect to the kid, but I think he's in no man's land right now and I don't see how he's gonna get on the field.
By mid-season? Good chance if he keeps on track.
Week One? Not likely. But they will have him in before halftime if he has lost his stripe by then.
Until the stripe comes off, he will not start.
